To clarify things, there are two different categories of failed tests. The first is for substance abuse (ie. pot or other illegal drugs). Everything else, performance enhancing or not, falls into the PED category. A missed test is classified as a PED failure. A diluted sample as compared to the baseline is a failed PED test. Any trace of common over-the-counter ingredients is classified as a PED failure. Ingram's agent claims the substance that triggered the failed test had no performance enhancing properties and, in fact, was a substance that would have been deemed permissible if prescribed and cleared by a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). This includes fertility medications and hair growth products, among others. Indication from four separate Saints players, including Zach Strief, is that Ingram's failed test resulted from a tainted batch of a normally approved supplement. That is why his team fought it so vehemently. The Patriots actually test all supplements prior to the player's use regardless of its league approved status. Perhaps the Saqinhts should begin doing the same. And why the hell would we trade our best all-round RB when we are in a win it now mode? That make no sense whatsoever. Ingram worked all off-season with an expert on route running and speed. He is our most experienced offensive skill player (besides Brees) with the offense. Anyone trying to claim that the minute trace of non-performance enhancing substance found after the season was over had anything to do with Ingram's success this past season is an idiot. |

No kidding. But, that's something that Beastmode has brought up on multiple occasions, regardless of how little sense it would make. You don't get rid of one of your very best players when you are poised to win it all right now.

Yeah, well I got laughed on here when I said we would draft MI so meh.
If the run game looks strong without him, maybe even better then what? Especially if other premiere RB's go down early on other teams. If someone is willing to pay a premium it would be stupid not to do it. That's a lot of if's I know but to say it's non negotiable at all, even if one of those scenarios plays out I think that is laughable. |

Re: Mark Ingram Suspended Four Games(Update: Appeal denied)
The way this team is built now, you'd do more harm than good trading Ingram - remember when we ran outta RBs in Seattle in the playoffs???
MI is a veteran back, knows the system, and is suited to a team that is as good a Superbowl contender as any right now - you don't mess with that... Unless Ingram or his contract became a distraction, he finishes this season, winning a Superbowl with the Saints and you let him walk when he wants elite RB money... |

Re: Mark Ingram Suspended Four Games(Update: Appeal denied)
Laughable like signing MI right? Or when Payton's son told him he wanted MI like in the Movie Toy or something and he got him.
Sean Payton faced unique pressure to pick up Mark Ingram https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...p-mark-ingram/ One of the more random Youtube clips we’ve seen in a while, Sean Payton explains backstage at a “Molly Ringwalds” concert how his son was set on Ingram. “Boooooo,” Connor texted in response to the news Jordan was selected. Payton explained to his son that Jordan fell further in the draft than they expected. “Dad, he’s not a Heisman Trophy winner!” Connor pointed out when the two spoke. |
