Saint's Mark Ingram 'vigorously challenged' suspension, but lost case, lawyer says

By Nick Underhill May 9, 2018 Updated 2 hrs ago

Mark Ingram’s camp contends the substance that led to a positive drug test was not illegal and would have been approved with an exemption from the NFL.

The running back’s agency released a statement via general counsel David W. Jones saying they “vigorously challenged the test results through the arbitration process,” though Ingram lost the case and will be suspended for the first four games on the NFL season.

Ingram’s camp will receive the written ruling on or before May 16, at which point the statement says he will “explore what further options are needed.”

Ingram failed a random drug test at the end of the 2017 season, violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Players can take certain banned substances if they go through the proper channels and submit a therapeutic use exemption to the NFL. Ingram was suspended because he did not go through the process.

With Ingram missing the first four games of the season, New Orleans will likely turn heavily toward Alvin Kamara to carry the load, with players like Jonathan Williams, Trey Edmunds and Boston Scott picking up some of the slack.

This leads me to further believe my theory that Ingram's agent had somehow screwed up in the application of the TUE which resulted in his firing by Ingram. The lawyer shared with Underwood the TUE process which would not be relevant unless it was involved in the ruling in some manner.

This is going to get far more interesting.

This is the rsult of a coach refusing to show the team Patrick Swayze in Red Dawn so they can learn to be honorable men.

Once again, it would depend upon the circumstances.

Scott is Sproles. Won't have the same success as Ingram busting tackles and won't be the RB2. He'll be delegated to mostly ST for now. Tea leaves, we lean on Edmunds.

I don't see the Sproles comparison with Boston just yet. Kind of shifty and elusive like Jacquizz Rodgers.
See what he can do on special teams and go from there.

The NFL is a different animal.

I bet he vigorously fought this. This is really going to hurt his contract negotiations.
