Was it really a good move?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I agree, JK, not only was their alleged 2nd choice there, but their alleged 1st choice had been gone a while. They should have been more than ready to pick if that was the case. Although, I readily admit there ...

I agree, JK, not only was their alleged 2nd choice there, but their alleged 1st choice had been gone a while. They should have been more than ready to pick if that was the case. Although, I readily admit there are other factors that could have caused them to use up their time.

Sounds to me like the Panthers\' FO didn\'t want to appear as if they got shafted by Loomis for their 1st choice. I was listening to sporting news radio during the draft and they immediately aid that Brown was who the Panthers were after.

They\'re a bunch of seroid using liars so I\'m not suprised they\'d try to cover it up.

Frick I forgot where I got it... I think it was si.com. I think it was under today\'s date for truths and rumors. I wouldn\'t see a reason why they would lie about it for though... remember they are moving Gross back to right tackle this year because he just wasn\'t suited for left tackle. So if they were to draft Brown they would have two right tackles.

I have to back papz up on this one. I read that report too that they were moving Gross back to RT. Really makes no sense for them to draft Brown if that is the case. Said they wer emoving him back cause he isn\'t yet suited for LT. Maybe they will use that guy Wahle they got from GB as a T, even though he played guard and was a pro bowler in GB.

I wasn\'t calling you out guys. I\'m just saying that I don\'t have a lot of faith in such reports. I\'m sure teams play close to their chests and lie to their fans, etc. We of all people should know that.

That report about moving Gross came out after the draft as I recall.

Also, having an RT isn\'t reason to not draft another one. I recall it reported that some people think that Brown can play LT too.

Either way, I don\'t think it is worth getting MORE upset due to this report - it just isn\'t doing it for me. However, I understand your feelings, and I am not calling them out or putting them down.

I like the move/pick... only time will tell if it pays off. I don\'t see us getting much with a 3rd next year anyways... and we vastly needed help on that line.

The thing is guys, regardless of the move, the Saints still have a starter in Brown. Like Whodi said, at least our o-line is set for a few years.

True will still got a quality lineman out of it anyways... Who cares if we juked the Panthers or not... we got our number 1 rated player. It\'s just the 3rd rounder next year that bothers me. It seems like it\'s also going to be a deep draft next year

Actually with the strength and conditioning in which these college players are going through nowadays, the athletes entering the pro drafts are ridiculous. Draft picks are worth way more than they use to be... hopefully we\'ll be able to re-acquire a pick somewhere. Hey ya never know we might franchise Howard next year and trade him for a second rounder after he gets another 10 sacks this year...

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

Now don\'t let people fool you... next year\'s draft isn\'t going to be as deep as this years. This was on of the deepest drafts in years that doesn\'t happen every year... nor will it happen next year.
