So basically we gave away a 3rd rounder?

I believe we threw away a 3rd rounder, yeah.

-ps------

Even disregarding that, the trade is not equitable in value. The only way the trade works out fairly for the Saints is if they finish in the top 8 teams next year, no less than that. If they do not finish in the top 8, then they lost value points on the deal.

Great move. :casstet:

Hopefully Brown will go to 10 pro bowls here in New Orleans before his career is over. That will help me forget.

the only problem I have with brown is that next year\'s OT class is so much better that brown would probably go in the second or third...D\'Brick, mcneil among others are coming out.

and I think Terry and roos are pretty good..that said-brow helps us now...and that is a good thing.

Hey, we get a starting RT this yearm and a starting LT next year, right about when Gandy should be out of here. Of course there is the learnign curve, but Bent, Brown, Holland, Stinch, and whoever we draft would all be young. Plus, next year is deep in LBs too. We could get two immediate help players. Trying to be positive here.

who would have been disappointed if they took alex barron at #16 if brown would have been gone? anyone? until a week ago barron was the consensus top OT. but i can understand after just missing on vilma/williams and roberston the year before.

that is quite a nice positive thought who. i think even if the house falls down this year that bentley and brown will stand. another top rookie with those would be a strong trench nucleus if a rebuild job at the skill positions was needed.

Thanks Kell. I am trying to get over my draft shell shock and spin it a better way. You and I are always talking about what\'s best for the future of this team, well even if Haz fails miserably again next year, once he is gone the O-line will at least be a strength, and it all starts there. And we have good depth. One outstanding LT and damn, we could rival the Roaf-Turley days.

And no I would not have been mad if we had stayed put and taken Barron. But positive spin, positive spin.

I really like the Brown pick, so don\'t think I am saying that but....... Khalif Barnes didn\'t get picked until the 52nd pick. So it makes me wonder if we could have selected TDavis, and then gotten Barnes later on. I know he\'s not as good as Brown, and I really am pumped to see Brown on our line next year, but everybody said before the draft that Barnes was first round material and that he could have been selected above Barron.

the Jaguars did very well to add Barnes, who has has the natural ability of a first-rounder.

Unless we would have picked DJ we threw away the 3rd rounder. Lets face it at 16 even if someone would have picked Brown we could have gotten Barron. I know its early to speculate but I am having a hard time thinking that the difference between those 2 is a 3rd rounder. Both will make pretty good pros but only time will tell which one is the best.
On another note one constant with the Saints -- in the last few years they have neer selected the guy in the first round I wanted -- Sometimes they were right (Deuce) sometimes wrong (Sullivan). I still remember that we picked George Rodgers when we could have had LT>

I\'m not inclined to think that this is an accurate account of what the Panthers were going to do or even wanted.

Our FO thought they weren\'t going to get their guy. They gambled and went balz out to get him. I can understand being frustrated with the result, but at least they were making move to get what they wanted and thought they needed.

Papz, do you have a link for that? Is there reason to think the Panthers wouldn\'t lie. They took a long time to make that pick, that shouldn\'t have been the case if Thomas was there 2nd - he was there.
