Interesting that you don't care about a top 5 RB that essentially plays part time.

Ingram, a 28yo RB who took over six (6) years just to scrape over a thousand (1000) RuYds in a season is gonna net a 3rd pick?

Maybe if we trade him in-season to a desperate title contender, at the trade deadline, not in our conference...

Ingram's highest value will be with the Saints, Payton and Mickster trading first and second round draft picks to select him...

Includes five (5) years into developing him; that said, he'll be 29yo in December so wouldn't extend any guaranteed money beyond a year...

To be fair, JP, much of that lack of rushing production was on Payton and his pass intensive and RB by committee approach. It reminds me of the story of the only man that could hold Michael Jordan to under 20 points ... Dean Smith.

;)

Go back and look at Ingram's rookie season where Payton states "I'm probably the reason he won't be OFROY"

JP, IMO Ingram was the best & most consistent RB in all of his 2011 draft class (rounds 1- 7). Over the last 6 seasons, which RB has played better than Mark from his class? Roy Helo? Kendall Hunter ? Demarco Murray  ?

I'm simply wondering if it was the draft pick position by the Saints or the player that you have a problem with? All I know is that Mark has been consistently good in New Orleans.

I'd say most of the reason for Ingram's rookie year was that he seemed to run with his eyes closed. Right into the back of his own lineman.

Developed into a great player, but in a year where we are loaded up for a SB run, he's definitely hampered it.

that's something a coach says when he is trying to temper expectations and protect the player in case his success is less than what the fans expect

This. And everyone and their mother was saying he needed touches to get into rhythm. Once Payton committed to running more he produced. Injuries also played a role.
I’m happy with him, I just don’t know how happy Payton is with him right now. Or how happy he is . I get the feeling he thinks the Saints could have done more to back him up on this suspension thing.
The way the medical staff has been dropping the ball lately it wouldn’t surprise me if they gave him or recommended something that turned out to be banned.
Not maliciously, out of ignorance. There are tons of new supplements coming out all the time and if the homework isn’t done I can see it being overlooked.
