Steelers LT Gandy to sleep on Saints' $25M offer
John Clayton espn.com
Feb. 28, 2003 Steelers left tackle Wayne Gandy will sleep on a five-year, $25 million offer from the Saints with hopes that the Steelers increase their offer to keep him in Pittsburgh. Gandy was hurt that the Steelers didn't initially want to keep him, but he seemed to be encouraged with Bill Cowher called a week ago and tried to convince him to stay. Unfortunately, the Steelers can only afford to pay him a little more than $3 million a year. There were more lucrative offers from the Dolphins and Saints. The interesting part about the Saints interest is that they may escalate trade efforts involving left tackle Kyle Turley if Gandy is signed. |
