We still need a DT.
I\'d say we still need a vetran LB, but the guys who are likely to be available won\'t be significantly better than the vetrans, like Rodgers and Ruff, that we already have. Other than that, I\'m getting excited about the season, we have a lot of good things in place. Our line promises to be great; I hope it doesn\'t take them too long to gel. Our skilled positions, other than maybe TE, are looking pretty good. Our defense has a new Safety and Mike McKenzie; our LBs will all have a year of experience under their belt; and our DEs are among the best in the league. Damn. |

Good call Euph.
While I haven\'t been as down on Loomis as some, I feel like he is just sort of ho-hum. We needed to be a bit more agressive in FA, IMO. However, the draft wasn\'t that bad, and we\'ve done alright in the draft (other than one or two noteable exceptions) in recent years. |

Loomis is a more than effective money man, but that is the extent of his abilities. I agree with JKool in his assessment of our upcoming season.
We\'ve been so high on our past \"FANTASTIC\" draft selections, that I\'m comfortable with our \"safe\" picks this year (sans chase). I\'ve heard several sources say that Jamal Brown was probably the only sure bet in this years draft. I\'m really high on our second year linebackers, as they came on really strong last December, and are young and extremely motivated. I\'m even hopeful that Sullivan might actually have gotten his ass in gear and decided to play ball this year, as several coaches have indicated in the past month. Thanks for the optimism, JKool. It\'s a breath of fresh air. |

Just ain\'t many high-impact free agents still floating around at the moment. Most of the - reasonably affordable - FA\'s were snatched up by the second or third week of free agency. I think Ty Law is still out there, but again - reasonably affordable.
Things will doubtless get more interesting after June 1, when teams realize they can\'t deal the bigger names, so they start dropping them to relieve salary cap pains. There will still be good FA blood out there yet ... just hoping a stud DT is among them. |
