Yeah, he looked pretty good against 3rd stringers. As he did in the first game. His athleticism alone is superior to that of the competition he faces in these late game situations. But it was a very different story when he was facing guys who match or exceed his athleticism.
Honestly, I like the guy and I want him to succeed. I think he's a fantastic special teams player and a dangerous weapon when it comes to trick plays. And I still think he'd make one hell of a slot receiver. But last night didn't do anything to convince me that he's the heir apparent, or even that he's ready for the #2 role. I think he could potentially ascend to that spot in another couple of years if he works his ass off for it, but I still don't think he'd be ready to take over when Brees retires. He's most likely several years away from any chance at being a starter, and he's already 28. I just don't see it. And when you consider that they're letting him play ST, where some of the most violent hits occur, it sure doesn't seem like the coaching staff believes much differently than I do.
