You watch him and his eyes are always down field...he has good escapability and presence. We actually have a real qb behind Drew for the first time since Drew has been here

Considering we spent a 3rd round pick on Garrett Grayson, I’d say Teddy Bridgewater for a 3 is a pretty nice deal.

The kid's throws are accurate. He has presence and savvy in the pocket. Doesn't appear to lock on to a WR.

How fast can we get rid of Savage? Bridgewater is the immediate #2. Hill can stay as the special teams / emergency #3. Maybe he'll be good enough to back up Bridgewater in a couple years...

Is this really really for real? This is EXCELLENT! I hope to God they're working out an extension with him. Clowns, panties and yucks fans will be reeeeal pissed off when Drew retires and we hand the keys to Teddy B. While I dont know if he's a future HOF'er, he's definitely the answer to "what about life after Brees?" And we got him for only a 3rd? What a steal. Best move of this offseason.

And we can finally put the ridiculous idea of Taysom Hill being the heir apparent to bed!!!!!!!!!!!! What a time to be alive!

I love it as long as its not just insurance for one year. Then its just a big ass tease. I also hope Drew signed off on it.

You don't give up a third for that

Any chance we email Teddy the playbook in hopes he can play tomorrow? :p.

Bridgewaters value is going to go way up if a contender loses their starting Qb during the season. We could wind up flipping him for a better draft pick if Payton doesn’t like what he sees.

Picks are getting thin next year but screw it. We are now designed to weather the biggest of storms if Brees goes down. I no longer feel like the season is over.

Lost all faith in SP. stupidity at its finest. Now we have an often injured backup and no 2019 rd 1 or 3

This is the first and probably last time in my life I’m wishing there were more preseason games lol.

And yet virtually everyone in the entire NFL universe says this is a brilliant move for us.

So many options. We could keep him, flip him and absolutely win with him right now. As for the pick, we won the lottery last year and maybe a high dollar scratch off this year. Who cares.

Yeah well this is my opinion which I’m allowed. Why the hell do we trade a third for a backup qb unless brees does not play next year? If that’s the case I hope it’s brees decision. So now we have no rd one or three. I would have much rather signed Taylor next year.

But in theory, couldn't we say that we've wasted 1st rd (Stephone Anthony) & 3rd (Garrett Grayson) picks before? Teddy is a QB coming to New Orleans after suffering a very serious injury that many people doubted he could over come. Sounds eerily like Brees situation from years past. We see how that has worked out.

This was a solid move by the Saints Front office :bng:.

ChrisXVI 08-29-2018 03:50 PM

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater

I’d rather give up a 3rd now for Bridgewater and let him learn than sell the farm to trade up in the top 3 for a QB when the time comes.

Audiotom 08-29-2018 03:50 PM

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater

Sean Payton extends Teddy's contract

We have our first bonafide backup qb in the entire Brees era (not some stiff option) and a legit heir apparent for what amounts to a high 4th round draft pick

Fabulous!

Gushing over this

You have lost all faith in a coach that minus one moment of rookie madness would have been leadng a team into the NFC Champonship game game.
A team which he was part of the process for selecting Kamara,Lattimore,Williams and Thomas in the past few years?

Really

I had doubts about him turning things around over the past two years but the massive improvement on drafting and the deals done by the front office on the whole have been very good for the past couple of years. Think they all lost a step for a bit after the bountygate crap and i think he was to loyal to certain backroom staff due to this but once that change was made its been pretty clean sailing since

This was a great move
He has value as soon as a starting QB goes down.
Easy potential 1/2nd rounder if a good teams QB is out

Value as a long term successor

Value as a Bridge QB at worst

It's a long season. I totally see us making more trades before the deadline to get picks back and even higher picks. I'm looking at these rookie QB's, even some young Vets running around like it's cool. It's only a matter before the phone starts ringing.

Basically a one year deal. Whose to say he won’t demand more than we can afford next year? Whose to say we don’t get out bid? One year rental that may never see the field for a rd 3 pick.

Again, it’s a one year rental unless he re-signs.

A one year rental that can be traded and will get you a 3rd round comp pick if he signs a big deal elsewhere

Its was Bridgewater and a 6th for a 3rd wasn't it?

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater

Extend Teddy's deal and have Hill start working on his special teams snake oil

I was really scared about our backup QB situation going into the season
Not now

Get this man a playbook and hopefully he has all season holding the clipboard and learning our system

Drew has only missed one game since his Saints helm

Taking a chance on a guy with a career ending injury worked for us last time
Bridgewater sure looks good in those preseason highlights

Finally a viable replacement when Drew decides to hang up his cleats

Teddy Bridgewater is a 25 year old (younger than Hill) and a former Pro-Bowl QB that fits our system. We now have a QB of the future / Insurance Policy (see Philly/Nick Foles) of today with very few question marks about his game.

I'm willing to bet the Saints front office have a plan to sign Teddy to a long term deal at some point.

A Saints 3rd ~ high 4th

A jets 6th ~ low 5th

This is very true. It's almost as if we got him for a single round drop. That's almost nothing.

No. He was referring to our getting Davenport with a 2019 1st (#32 overall).

Again, he may fit the system but where will we get the money? Teams are always willing to overpay. Does this mean Drew retires? Surely they have no plans of letting him walk. Drew is still a top 3 qb.
