this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; we call him a \"free agent\", b/c he is on the trading block making him available to any team who wants to pay the price (draft picks)...

a couple of questions
Yes you can franchise turley next year if you have 6.7 milion of cap room that you dont need. The Bills were 18 mil under the cap they can play that game. Does the league think that they No will pay turley 6.7 mill? or will they end up letting him go. talent for talent Jones for Turley is lopsided for Turley. He plays a position that I think is more important. But is he going to stay, is he worth that kind of money to NO, Is he going to mend fences? Jones fills a need, at a high level

a couple of questions
the saints would be stupid to just let turley leave for nothing so trading him is what they are looking into but it is still bad business if they trade him straight up for jones, its a bad deal, turley is a young ruthless aggressive offensive lineman who can play both left and right tackle. i believe if turley wanted to stay here, as we fans would love to see, then the saints orginization would want him to stay also, and im sure that they do want him to stay anyway, considering they offered him a contract last year with a signing bonus of 8.5 million, which is 3.5 million more then they gave Gandy.... oh and also, the Tender for the franchise tag, is one year - 5.7 million, not 6.7, but i do also believe that turley will be traded this year, just not straight up for jones it will most likely be for a first round pick, in either this years draft or next years draft

Trading Turley to the Texans sound nice, they have the 3rd overall pick ! Maybe we can talk the Bungles out of ruining another promising young qb\'s career and let us do it for a change ? If that doesn\'t work, we still get a top 3 pick! The possibilities with this pick are almost endless. We could go D-line,D-back,O-line,Wr which would be silly,or Qb with Leftwich still there. Imagine sitting in the war room with 3 first round picks instead of watching someone else use the picks you traded away(Ditka). This would make for a fun draft day for Saints fans !

a couple of questions
I doubt the Saints will use three first rounders. If they do trade Turley for a draft pick I sure hope that they use one of their firsts to get Charles Woodson. They probably won\'t, b/c they never do what I think is best, but I don\'t see why they wouldn\'t. A young Pro Bowl caliber corner with three yeas of experience is head and shoulders above any talent they may get in the first round at corner. Plus, unless they release Hand, they wouldn\'t have the money to sign three first rounders, a second, and two thirds. And that\'s with $8 mil available and assuming that they won\'t make any more moves in free agency. I sure hope they do. Turley for a first, a first for Woodson, then go find a safety and/or another stud LB, worry about your DT in the draft.

a couple of questions
The problem with the Turley trade as I hear it is he\'s in the last year of his contract. Most teams that would be interested in getting him want a long term contract before they sign him. Can\'t say I blame them. I do hope we get something for him and I think now is the time to pull the trigger on a deal for him. Don\'t wait till the end of the year when he is a free agent and we get nothing.

a couple of questions
I would love to see Woodson come this way. I kinda would like to see Turley screw his head on and decide if he wants to play for us or not. Gandy is a LT,Turley still has room. Woodson, healthy, could help our D immensly. I am not sure if Turley is ready to commit to a long term deal with anyone. I love his fire, but he his a loaded gun.
