Yesterday I ran into Zach Strief at Port Orleans and after a couple of pictures and talking about his new gig I asked him about his take on Rick Leonard. He said that Leonard was loaded with talent and a physical presence and just needs some work. He stressed that it has only been two years since he moved to the new position. He added that he talked with Leonard on Thursday and told him that making the practice squad was a good thing and would give him the opportunity to develop without the pressure of the regular roster.
I then asked him what was the front office take on Leonard. That embarrassed my wife, but you have to ask the tough questions. Lol. He said they are still high upon his potential and things are going “according to plan”. Reporting from New Orleans this is your B&G correspondent, AsylumGuido. See you at Gleason Gras! |

Re: Strief’s take on Rick Leonard
The way the O-Line is starting out, ONE MORE YEAR should have been your chant. I do believe Leonard makes the squad as a backup next year. If Armstead has another injury plagued campaign, it could be Ram at LT and Leonard at RT next season. The fish and chips are great at Port Orleans.

Re: Strief’s take on Rick Leonard
First very cool photo. I think, from everything I have read, that Leonard has exactly the type of attitude SP is looking for and would be nothing but beneficial here. Nothing Zach said at all demonstrated RL deserving the wasted 4rth round pick when he could have been had later if not as an undrafted signing. Nothing he showed in preseason looks any better than what LT offered in his time here.
Of course I hope I'm wrong and he is a solid starter for us in the future. But so far, I'm not seeing it. And anyone on Zach's position with the team and his new career undertaking is going to allow him to offer a completely honest, unfiltered, response. You do have some balls asking those tough questions. Cool photo and thanks for posting the information |

He actually sounded excited when giving his personal assessment. He has always been known for being straight to the point and cutting through the bullcrap. It's why he was always one of the more popular interviews among the players.
As an added aside, I had a glass of draft on the bar and he quickly identified it as the new Gleason IPA and wanted to know what I thought of it. He knows his beer. I probably couldn't tell the difference visually between it and his Storyville IPA. |

A couple more pictures from the trip ...
I ran into Gary Sinise at the WWII museum and had a cool short conversation with him. I believe it was his daughter that took the picture. Posing with the Lombardi at Gleason Gras. Drew at Gleason Gras. |
