The New Orleans Saints released rookie quarterback J.T. Barrett from their practice squad on Friday, according to a league source.
Cutting Barrett created an opening for rookie running back Boston Scott, who decided to return to the practice squad after clearing waivers on Thursday. Barrett could return to the Saints soon as there's a chance the team will promote a player from the practice squad in advance of Sunday's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A running back would be a likely addition because the Saints have just two on their 53-man roster. NOLA Last edited by SmashMouth; 09-07-2018 at 06:19 PM.. |

Boston wasn’t going anywhere. He had an agreement to go to the practice squad.

I like Barrett. He went through the wars and won at Ohio St. The perfect spot for him was under Payton and Brees. i don't see him as anything other than a backup in the NFL. Not a bad thing. Earn some good cash and retirement. But, Scott can play and contribute on an NFL roster right now. People get hung up on his height. The guy doesn't look or play like he's not big enough. On offense, it comes down to he and TLL. With Kamara, Gillislee, and Ingram coming back after four games, I could see the staff going with those three RB's and keeping six WR's on the 53. It all depends on injuries.

I remember an perrennial "All Pro" linebacker that had the same "KNOCK" against him. He's got a statue in another state in his honor now.

Re: Saints cut quarterback J.T. Barrett from practice squad and Sign Boston Scott
Not per se, but it was reported that Boston received offers from a couple of other teams but held out to join the Saints' practice squad. Not sure where I heard it since I was on the road, but it is common practice as sf76 stated. And I'm pretty sure Scott and family have always had a dream of him being a Saints player. That means a lot.
