On the other hand, Robertson and Stupar looked great from the day they showed up; heck, even Te'o had some great play in his first season... Maybe we need to borrow a page from the Patriots and quit worrying about the best athletes, but the best football players... Maybe a half step slower, SPARQ scores less than ideal, heck, just go back and watch Tom Brady's 40 yard combine run... But those Patriot players are smart, disciplined, and do their job - oh, and they win Championships... Our defense, heck, our team lacks a healthy balance between athletes and football players... |

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
I'd never have signed Davis to that kind of money after he had only one positive graded season in his career...
And if we still had Stupar, my LBers would be Anzalone - Robertson - Stupar - and I know the results would've been better than today... |

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
I don’t understand why you would pay him all that money and change his position. You paid him based on what he accomplished in the middle...and the first thing you want to do is make him play a position that he has not played in his NFL career? There were plenty of WLB that we could have signed in the offseason. Of course that’s not the Saints way...

Davis is our best linebacker who is playing out of position. |

Again, too my point, he might not be as quick as Davis, but he's rarely out of position, and he's smarter with better instincts... Going back to PreSeason, in each game Davis has made dumb mistakes (i.e. Bortles @ Goal Line) that rookies, morons make - not highly compensated veterans... And if Davis is out of position, I'd question his ability to execute the defense at MIKE much less his position at WILL where he ran up the wrong lane gap often... |

At the end of the day, the Saints FO signed a MLB to not play in the middle ![]() |

But they weren't! They really actually switched these guys around. Who the **** does that?! Lmao!! I have a feeling we're going to see a lot more 3 safety sets starting next game. |

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
I think we let some of the wrong people go when the roster was trimmed. Giselle definitely has to go. Should have kept Lawrence and Tate and Scott or Williams. Our supposed strength turned out to be our greatest weakness secondary issues and linebacker was dismal. For me it's only one game. The question is does this team really have the players defensively to bounce back and I'm just not sure. I have never seen anything like this some players are going to have to sit and Payton and Allen better get their **** together.
