this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'd never have signed Davis to that kind of money after he had only one positive graded season in his career... And if we still had Stupar, my LBers would be Anzalone - Robertson - Stupar - and I know ...

And if we still had Stupar, my LBers would be Anzalone - Robertson - Stupar - and I know the results would've been better than today... |

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
Absolutely correct but this yr it is way different. And until these fools (not just our team) get it through there thick heads, we are gonna see a lot of penalties like this. Driving the QB to the ground like he did Fitz, is so uncalled for. You don't have to body slam them, ESPECIALLY after he has already thrown the ball. This is not rocket science.

I call it the Aaron Rodgers Rule...and it’s going to suck because the QBs that fight for every yard and are elusive will break out of a lot of sacks because defensive players will be scared they are going to get a flag...

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
I don’t understand why you would pay him all that money and change his position. You paid him based on what he accomplished in the middle...and the first thing you want to do is make him play a position that he has not played in his NFL career? There were plenty of WLB that we could have signed in the offseason. Of course that’s not the Saints way...

I think we let some of the wrong people go when the roster was trimmed. Giselle definitely has to go. Should have kept Lawrence and Tate and Scott or Williams. Our supposed strength turned out to be our greatest weakness secondary issues and linebacker was dismal. For me it's only one game. The question is does this team really have the players defensively to bounce back and I'm just not sure. I have never seen anything like this some players are going to have to sit and Payton and Allen better get their **** together.

Another thing... Why does our defense always need “wake-up calls”? We have three 1st round picks on the D-Line and a Pro Bowl DROY at CB and these guys can’t impose their will. That’s a culture problem. I see a whole lot of other teams with good defenses who don’t need “wake-up calls.”

Davis is our best linebacker who is playing out of position. |

Re: Observations from the Saints first game loss to Tampa Bay
Lattimore is not in football shape. At 100% no way Mike Evans creates that kind of separation and runs away from him. Lattimore always had that 2nd gear. I didn't see that yesterday. Looked really slow out there.
D-line players are overrated. Onemayata is the only guy that is discruptive and I would extend him rather than Rankins (never understood the hype). Our LBs? Always out of position. Why are they always changing something that works. New roles, starting inferior talent, Robertson on the bench... Dennis Allen sucks at defending 3rd and long. It's not just one game. Ever since he became DC it's happening on regular basis. |
