Can we agree that this was an inexcusable performance for game 1 vs a divisional opponent.

No, the defense did not give up 48 points. A RB on the offense with less than a week with the squad caused the OFFENSE to give up seven of the points.

Ok, allow me to retort.

Tampa score 27 points before they punted. If not for a missed TB FG, we gave up 44 points at home.

On that 3rd and 11, a 35 year old rolls out on you to rip your heart out. Play contain defense and spy Fitz ! Why is it so hard for Dennis Allen to play defense in late game situations? I can go on and on.

The final score says Tampa slung 48 points on you & that's embarrassing.

On to Cleveland though ...

That's what he's going to bring to the game. Can you imagine any other defender on our team not named Jordan making that play?

Exactly, that 3rd and 11 we only rushed 3 guys. That means 8 in coverage and the majority were stood at the first down marker, yet when Fitz started running there was no one within 20 yards of him.

Shoddy play calling and execution all around for Allen

Davenport is going to be a monster. Wait and see. When he starts getting pressure on that other side and they can't continue to put all the focus on Jordan...look out.

Agreed.

His "twitch" and acceleration is freakish. I know many may be enamored by sack numbers but the way he moves across the field & navigates through traffic is scary. Once he polishes up the technique ... oh boy.

Yea. Gave up 48 pts at home but because 7 of those points came off an offensive turnover you can’t put it on the defense. As if giving up 41 instead of 48 makes one God damned bit of difference.

In our Super Bowl year we had a game just like this one against Miami with the difference being we got the turnover and not the other team. Anything can happen in one game, especially the first game of the season.

True, but the Rams sure came out and made a statement in Game One...

Without most of their starters logging a preseason snap; second half adjustments against Raiders equally impressive...

That didn't happen with our Saints Defense...
