Hopefully the linebackers build on that as a group. KLEIN looked a lot better from game 1. It's probably just me but Anzalone guesses a lot. Not sure why he gets snaps over Craig R.

After some thought...

Our problems are centered on two things.
1. We can’t run block, has nothing to do with Ingram. The line is creating no running lanes.
2. Our Safeties are a major problem. Williams might have had a pick but he played poorly for the first two games... sad part is he’s the best safety we have. Bell and Colman have been very poor, consistently miss reading and getting beat.

Running lanes were there. Gillisbie and Williams simply can't hit the hole with burst/authority when necessary. Ingram will illustrate this in week 5.

As for Marcus, he played about as well as one could play at the position in game 1 with the amount of blown/busted coverages he was having to clean up. Remember that bomb & subsequent score Desean had ? ...that was a cover 3 where the deep zone LCB jumped an intermediate route.

Williams had to run from a whole other zone hoping to catch a WR & he's supposed to be at fault. I think even a player of Earl Thomas caliber will give that one up. The INT he had today actually saved our a** and gave us an opportunity to put points on the board.

I'm just not down on him as much as others after week 2. Marcus is still trending in the right direction but others (Crawley/Lattimore) must do their job.

Huge test for the secondary next week.

Re: 6 takeaways from the Saints' victory over the Browns

I’m watching the big Antonio Callaway TD over and over. It’s a weird defensive play call. We’re lined up in a 3-3-5 with Anzalone-Klein-Davis at LB. The safeties come up to play underneath zones while Lattimore, Klein and Crawley are covering deep thirds. Klein does a fantastic job picking up the TE up the seam and stays with him stride for stride. Crawley just gets beat on the post route. It looked kind of like this:

-A win is a win.
-Thomas and Kamara are beasts.
-Ingram is missed big time.
-The Saints should trade a pick to the Bills for Ivory. Zero behind Kamara.
-Unger had a bad game.
-Armstead had a great game.
-I'm all for Hill returning kicks.

-Rankins flashed today.
-Klien flashed today.
-Jordan's hustle play keeping Taylor out of the endzone was huge.
-Great and horrible plays by Crawley.
-Stallworth was over matched big time today.

-The Saints are like a box of choc o lates.
