Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

Failclowns may be without RB Freeman

Good. I have zero confidence in our (in)ability to stop the run...or the pass for that matter, but I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised on Sunday.

Double team Julio Jones. 2018 Lattimore can't cover him. On offense just play smart football without turnovers and we will be fine.

I'm not worried about us scoring but I am genuinely concerned about our potential to stop them from doing it. I smell a barn burner. I hope I'm wrong.

I expect much better defense after bye week. Lattimore especially. Get in shape and clean some things up (scheme wise).

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

No Deion Jones, Keanu Neal, Devonta Freeman and now potentially Takk McKinley.

Hulio Jonas Bros is fading. If not for the gimmick game last year involving trick plays he would be a lower tier WR.

He had his day in the sun. Michael Thomas could run circles around him.

I wish I shared your thoughts, but I don't. The way our secondary has played so far, Hoolio is about to take us to the school yard without some serious improvement.

Those aren't just bodies but good players. Expect Sean Payton and that offense to exploit those areas.

Anyone's guess as to what we will get from our defense ... specifically the guys up front.

Julio is averaging 16 yards per catch through 2 games. That's almost double of what Mike Thomas (9.5) has so far & he's a monster. I hate the Falcons more than most but come on, Jones is hardly fading.

Last year was last year.

With Coleman and Jones out we are getting a huge break. This will be the 3rd game in a row where the football Gods seem to be handing us a W. I hope we take advantage of this one.
It’s going to be tough and Lattimore is going to get tested.
Our run D better be ready because Atlanta posted almost 200 yards rushing against the Panthers. Without Freeman.
Offense better get it’s act together.

If our safety play is decent we win... our safeties this year are as bad as I can remember.

No pressure isn’t really helping. Even Jordan has been quite so far.

If Antonio Callaway can burn us for 50 yards on 4th and 5, then Julio is a very real threat.

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

We are scared to get burnt on the corners but we really need to pressure Ryan...he is a choke artist

saintfan 09-18-2018 07:50 AM

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

Ryan is the best QB we've faced so far. Hoolio is the best WR we've faced so far. We've been lit the :censored: up by lesser WRs and QBs so far.

Barn burner anyone?

K Major 09-18-2018 08:36 AM

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

I'm a bit more concerned with the Saints D line.

Atlanta appear to have had their way against the Carolina defensive front. We must set the edge and contain Coleman & Freeman (he doesn't look healthy though), otherwise it's gonna be gash city.

For whatever reason, I think Sean Payton will exploit the areas of injury (Debo Jones, Neal) with Atlanta. They are not a healthy team.

On the road, Saints by 7.

I have no idea what to expect of this game. It kind of feels like a coin flip for me right now. Hopefully I'll be surprised in a good way.

Week 1 no defense. Week 2 no offense. Hoping this is the week they both show up. Saints by 3.

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

Dare I say the linebackers have improved over the last two weeks ?

I think Nolan did a solid job of making adjustments from week 1 to 2. Klein played better, Davis was fast & Teo seems to be really consistent against the run.

We'll need these guys to play well on Sunday.

Better in week two, but not good enough.

SF,

If we ever get the pass rush together ... I believe things will eventually come together on the back end. Anything that will disrupt the passers timing will be huge.

Agreed and we have had none so far. Matt and Hoolieo are looking forward to Sunday I'm sure. I hope we can give them a big :censored: burger, but I'm not convinced.

It’s a division game and usually both teams show up for these. Records and past performances go out the window for these. This gives me hope.

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

Yep.

Not sure if you caught any of the MNF game but the Bears pass rush was just consistently over whelming (I know they have Mack but still) & no one is ready to anoint their corners as being good.

If we can disrupt Matty, stay disciplined @ linebacker, eventually he'll throw it in the hands of Lattimore and/or Marcus. Dennis Allen just doesn't need to over think things.

Saints by 7 ;).

Re: Anyone ready to talk about Sundays Saints-failclowns game?

We still are trying to find our rhythm along the O-line, the running backs, wide receivers and tight ends are all strugglig on offense. Training camp was spent cross training everybody everywhere and no one developed chemistry at any position. Drew spent almost no time with his current receivers and we still have TQS, Carr, getting up to speed and Cameron Meredith still coming back from a knee injury two seasons back. I've never seen Drew miss his targets this much. He needs to get the ball to someone not wearing a #13 or #41 jersey. Since Drew elevates his receivers why isn't that happening now? We are moving our O-line pieces so much it looks like we're playing checkers. Drew will settle in and I'm not worried about him. However, the O-line is a different story. This is not the same O-line that owned the power rankings last year.

The defense has struggled this off season because every time the defense plays well we get rid of several players and bring in players that we hope will be an upgrade at their position but aren't. We keep paying MLB'ers to come here and move them to another position. Why? Why can't we find packages that work? Where the Hell is Aaron Glenn and his ability to put players in the right place? Who's busting coverage? What has happened to the D-line? I know that they are playing because I can see where the announcers show the starters on the big screen. Other than the occasional penalty they are pretty much nonexistent at stopping the run or getting pressure on the QB. Davenport looks good for coming back from a groin injury while missing valuable training camp snaps. He will be a force in the future......hopefully it will be soon.

One more thing. Why does every successful Saints off season defense change the scheme so much that they out think themselves and blow assignments and look lost? Personally, I believe that Payton gets involved. He knows how to beat a good defense but not how to run a good defense. I believe that is why GW had success here. He didn't let Payton get involved and insist on copying the latest trend on defense. Payton is a brilliant strategist and offensive mind but I have no faith in his defensive strategy.

Don't forget that Williams took the main fall for the fictitious "bounty/intentional attempts to injure program". That's what really spelled the doom. Mike Cerullo was out to get Vitt and Payton with his lies, but brought down Williams much more substantially. But, once the lies were exposed Williams quickly returned to favor in the league.

Umm Coleman is not out. And we are about to find out how much our LB's improved. Coleman just put over 100 yards on the Panthers D. A feet that has not happened 1 time last yr. I would argue that Coleman is the better all around back than Freeman. And its Freeman who is out btw.

As far as what to expect. Think its gonna be the same as always, a grind. It's gonna come down to who scores last is who wins.

My late father used to do the same on purpose when I was growing up just to bug me.

I really miss that now.

Same thread as before Yucs game. No Winston, oline beat up etc.
Spells trouble. I want Failclowns to have everybody on game day.
