I truly believe Payton will roll with Jonathan Williams & Gillisbie one last week before angry Ingram returns.

I think so too. The issue with bringing Scott up now is trying to slip him back onto the practice squad.

Why does that really matter? All 32 practice squads are a shared NFL resource. Any team can sign any player off any practice squad at any time. The only requirement is that you must sign a practice squad player to your 53 man roster. So Scott is really no more protected on the Saints practice squad than he is if we bring him up and then send him back down. The only difference is that a player off waivers can be placed on someone else's practice squad whereas a player signed off the practice squad must go the 53, and then presumably waivers, before they can be placed on someone else's practice squad.

If we need the guy, bring him up.

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

The protection that comes into play is that if a team attempts to claim a player off your practice squad, you have the option to promote them to your 53 man roster blocking that move. On the other hand, as you mentioned, if you later decide to demote him back to the practice squad he would first have to clear waivers and at that point you cannot protect him. That would be my worry.

In other words, I conditionally agree ... if we need the guy, bring him up, but be prepared to have him as one of your 53 for the remainder of the season.

There also may be an issue with him understanding protection calls with pass blocking. Ingram is great with this and is probably under appreciated with this part of his game. This could be why Scott is still on PS to learn more. You already have to cut someone next week when Ingram comes back and with the issues with the secondary and need to sign DB's it would be hard to justify a roster spot for Scott with the risk of having to pass him thru waivers if cut again. Now back to AK. He has 67 touches in 3 weeks. He has fewer than McCaffery, Gurley and a couple others. Hell AP has almost as many rushing attempts as total touches for AK. I'm sure he can handle it.

HaHa! Remember this? I'd say I nailed it on this one. Welcome back, Mark Ingram!
