I agree with Guido T. Ginn is going to have a diminished role I spoke of getting Tate (Free Kamara from this duty) coming back and also Scott (Insurance even after we get our starter back) get rid of the other backs. They have not fully addressed the CB issue just some band aids. Ginn has still got breakaway speed and is a threat we need to use him to expose weaknesses in deep coverage's and to clear out intermediate routes for our other receivers. Want to see Sterling back or a trade get done. I want to see Allen gone we need someone with a real passion for defense and they have people out there that would fit the bill. Don't be surprised if this happens. I want to see if Payton really wants to make some tough decisions to get this team a superbowl. If he does not have the balls to do it we won't get there.

I would be surprised to see it happen during the season. The whole season would have to be a train wreck to let a coordinator go mid-season. It did happen with Rob Ryan, but that season was that train wreck and Dennis Allen was already in-house to step in. I suppose someone like Nolan could do the same, but I just don't see it happening.

Sean Payton ain't firing Dennis Allen.

This team still has a lot of talent defensively but there is absolutely no way we should be this awful (specifically the secondary) on D. Saw a replay of the Falcons / Saints ... we are in zone coverage, meanwhile PJ is back pedaling flat footed . Receivers running high school wide open.

I have no idea what the defensive coordinator is doing.

I understand that players regress, have bad years, classic sophomore slump etc... but I don't believe all the cornerbacks and safeties on a team regress all at the same time. It has to be the scheme.

CB, DL... When are you people going to realize that Hill is the best LB on the team?

It's always been the scheme. That's how GW turned Scott Shanle, Roman Harper and Alex Brown into a top 10 D - schemed to play to their collective strengths.

Payton and Allen are responsible when players look bad, and the D gets worse and worse no matter how many pro bowlers we bring in. That shows everyone it isn't the players.

Payton can't even play a newly signed LB in his original position.

Wouldn’t that make them responsible for them looking great last year?

It certainly would, which begs the question, what happened?

I think the answer is that Allen put too many wrinkles in the defense and never gave any position group time to gel. He needs to simplify the scheme again and let the talent stop thinking all the time and just do their job instinctively.

What could have changed? The complexity of the scheme most likely. The same thing happened everywhere that Rob Ryan coached. He would implement a stripped down vanilla version of his offense and they would have immediate success. Thee following year he would open up the playbook and players would begin to look lost. Sound familiar?
