Well, by the fact that the last reports say Colby has seriously bulked up and gotten stronger, maybe he is our SLB. I would not be against giving the kid a shot. He is a demon on the field. With his speed, with strength, eee-yow.

I think I would go at the season with what we have over him. I question what has been going on with him... and its a no brainer if you want a starting position then you go where you think a team is week at your position.

In response to Danno's question, from what I've read it seems that the Saints are set on Allen and Watson, for the most part. Buckwoldt, Fincher, Fisher, and Rodgers will battle it out for the last spot. I'm not sure that is wise or that it makes much sense, but that just seems to be the way that it is discussed.
In regard to this LB - any LB that WANTS to come to the Saints probably isn't very good. |

It would not hurt to bring this guy in for a few weeks to see what he has left. What do we have to lose, if we get nothing from him we cut him, but if he is the leader we need and star of the 2005 season that no one knows about yet then we would have done good, REAL GOOD.

What struck me most about the story is it appears the front office is still actively pursuing players behind the scene. Judging from his comments I don't think he'd just mention the Saints unless he'd already been in contact with us.
McKinnon or Hardy? It doesn't really matter to me. At least the front office is targeting a weakness. These guys may not be the Hartwell's or Pierce's of the free-agent LB's but I believe they could certainly help us out, and wouldn't cost us the ability to re-sign Deuce, Bentley, McKenzie, and Brown to long term contracts. I like the idea of signing a quality veteran who has a year or two left in the tank. Its all the time we need for Watson/Bockwoldt/Fincher/Allen to fully develop at their positions, or at least it buys us time to determine if they ever will. |
