I just can't understand why the NFL thinks there is a need for this rule? And don't give me that prevent "serious injury" line (when you run onto a field where players run 4.0 40's are are being chased and guys weigh in at over 300lbs butt heads for 90 mins serious injury is a foregone conclusion). What will be next? I think the owners are behind this rule for sure. By outlawing the "rundown" tackles scoring would likely increase. Sure everyone likes to see long catches or runs result in touchdowns but we like to see the touchdown saving grab also. I understand rules are a necessary evil but football is a contact sport. You know everyone on the board offen comments about our weak backfield but for gosh sake look at all the restrictions that they play under! No more contact beyond 10yd(?) from scrimage no face guarding no hand checks ect ect ect... No wonder CB's play for the ball so much. They are forced or regulated to by the rules. I don't think that these rules often help level the playing field either. Teams out of options when it comes to trying to containing the offensive theats that they face week after week. I just shake my head and tune into ultimate fighting...

I know how you can get back at them Boo, stop watching football. Watch rugby instead. All the blood, eye gouging, nut grabbing, and anything else illegal you need. No rules over there. Just cut football from your life, with all their pansy rules. Who needs it right? It's not even worth watching. Yup, that's my suggestion. Move on to rugby. Football has nothing left for ya bro.

whodi,
Good plan as watching an NFL game these days is a real time comitment these days! By the time you have all the (not so) instant re-plays, ref confrences and missed calls and rule interpations ect ect ect... Now I know why the miked the refs... they were running out of hand and arm signals to keep up with all the infractions! Rugby just is no pads, no helmets, & no teeth!
