Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
1 Attachment(s)
Dez Bryant may soon have a new team, finally.
According to NFL Media, the Saints liked what they saw during Tuesday’s workout, and the two sides currently are negotiating a deal. And if the deal happens, circle this date on your calendar: November 29. That’s when the Saints play the Cowboys. In Dallas. In prime time. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DrYVWAuVAAAAmjY.jpg:large Once the season began, Bryant’s best play became signing with a team in November, getting up to speed over the balance of the regular season, and attempting to contribute in the postseason, hopeful to make the kind of impression in January that will get him paid in March. As to Bryant’s reputation for being emotional, the Saints may be one of the few teams equipped to handle him. Between quarterback Drew Brees and coach Sean Payton, they’ll be blunt and candid regarding their expectations, and if it’s not working, the Saints will move on. Like they did a year ago with running back Adrian Peterson. PFT http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...ions-on-a-deal |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
We needed more help on offense.
Top of the league in dropped passes and drama queen in a young locker room. Doesn’t play special teams. Doesn’t know the playbook. Doesn’t have chemistry with Drew, halfway through the season. What depth are we going to get rid of? I hate this move. Edit: ok, it’s early, I’ll give him a chance. He’s a Saint now, after all. |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
We might very well have the best running back and wr tandems in the league. I hope this works out like I think it will

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
A savvy vet with something to prove. Paired with Brees, Payton and a unified team.
Seems to be working for Eli Apple!! |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
As long as there is a clause; No "Roseanne Barring" on social media. If he signed that this is going to workout.
|
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Drew will turn him back into a beast in the red zone.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Dez retweeted a post saying he's going to be a Saint. Looks like it's getting done.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...887e73e080.jpg

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Not a fan. Skills have diminished. Always a head case. But, when Brees is looking at Arnold on a big third down, another option isn't all bad. He will make some plays. In the big games ahead, just making teams aware of another option is a win. Overall, it should be a net positive.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Always a head case? Always???
|
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
After seeing that pitiful QB play Monday night maybe the slide in Dez’s production was not all directly on Dez’s?
|
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I thought he was older than 30. Lost some speed but he won't be in that role. Thinking he gets 12-15 snaps a game, heavily involved in downfield blocking which hasn't materialized like last year. And plenty of time to learn the playbook for the playoffs. It's a good move. Carr and Meredith are not cutting it.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
From an article I read
Bryant turned 30 just days ago on Nov. 4, and played in 116 games (including the playoffs) for Dallas. He scored 75 touchdowns in those appearances, averaging 66.2 yards per game and 14.1 yards per catch. That’s pretty good. Get excited Saints fans. We got quite possibly the best #2/3 WR in the league. |

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Winning cures a lot of ailments...if he is willing to block down field on running plays and buy into what we are doing then we will be ok. He will provide another 3rd down chain mover and a nice red zone target.
The most important thing is that since it’s a mid season signing we can most likely just release him with little ramifications if he becomes a malcontent in the locker room. |

So League Minimum for 11 games?

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I hope Dez leaves the ego, "me" attitude up here in Dallas. Saints don't need any distractions. Is he still talented ? Of course. Can he help us? Absolutely. Gotta hold on to the ball here though. He's not playing in Arlington anymore. SP won't tolerate the muffs, drops or sideline tomfoolery. But one selfish out burst or slip up, hope coaches show him the door.
Once Brees develops trust on his routes/timing, Dez needs to capitalize when his # is called. I wish him nothing but the best here though. We all have ONE goal . Keep grinding. |

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I think he will be a good fit for us. MT is our undisputed #1wr so Dez just needs to catch the ball when its thrown to him. Drew is much better than any QB Dez has played with. He wont have to catch passes that are all.ove the place, Drew putts the ball in the right spot. He also will not command the best CB from opposing defenses like he did in Dalls. A number 2 CB is gonna have troubles with his big body.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Welcome to the family, Dez! Start fresh and leave all that baggage behind you. Get ready to catch passes from the most accurate QB in the league. Get ready to play in one of the most exciting offenses in football. Get ready to play a role even when the ball isn't thrown to you. Get ready to win a Superbowl!

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
The really big question is can Dez grasp the Saints' offense and get on the same page as Brees? If the answer to that question is yes, then Brees will make him look like the second coming of Jerry Rice and make JJ look like Bozo The Clown for releasing him.

Since Jimmy Johnson departed it has been one bad management/personnel decisions followed by more bad decisions. Gotta love it, great business man poor football operations DNA. |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
75 TD's man, I had no idea.
Excited about this signing! |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Can't be worse than what we've been rolling out there at 3/4. He should know he's not coming in there to be the guy and the main focus is the Superbowl. I think he'll succeed and do well.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I'm thinking it's possible that the Dallas environment brought out the diva and drama in him. It has a way of doing that. Hoping he shows flashes of that Oklahoma State monster that dominated the Big 12.
Anyway, welcome aboard Dez! And, just for the record, I thought it was a catch!!! |

I’m all for second chances so let’s hope he makes the best of it. |
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I hope we see the motivated and professional Dez. I hope he sees the opportunity placed before him and embraces the moment. As much as a dislike him for his previous off field antics, sideline immaturity and lazy route running, he definitely has an elite skill set. I'd love to eat crow and be happy we made this move.

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Dallas is a joke. Much like New York (or New England on the opposite side of the spectrum), environment is a Huge part of behavior. Especially when maturity is an issue. I continue to put my faith in the NO Brass. And this year, they seem to have even more of an edge than ever. So, Bring It!!

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
So, does this mean we are admitting that Meredith was a 10 million mistake?
|
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Not excited by this acquisition. Hope Dez play and character win me over.
|
Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
I pray that winning cures some of his previous issues.
On a side note: Dallas had several clauses in his previous contract which included- No consumption of alcohol, No attending strip clubs, Attending weekly counseling sessions, and a full-time security team to take Bryant to and from practice and escort him when he is out after midnight. The burning question is has he outgrown the need for NFL Guardianship? |

Dak was flash in a pan sorry held my thoughts on him last year he’s not a franchise first of all they use him in wrong offense he would be more of a scam newton type a threat runner than passer turruble. Accuracy I like the guy he try’s maybe great back up |

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
All I recall of him is yes he was a beast in the red zone and possession receiver ala MT but I can’t shake the tantrums on the sidelines and in the red heads face on tv . We no what happened to the great AP after that stare down they have to lay the law down on this guy put him in between mark and kamara?

The reports of Meredith's inability to block, especially the speculation that it's based on willingness and/or effort, is what is most disturbing about the Meredith experience... My cautious optimism and uneasiness of this signing is adding someone with his publicized history to the locker room while things are going well... |

Re: Dez Bryant Signing With Saints
Wondering if we made Dez an offer a while back. I bet we did. He was likely waiting on who was going to be a strong contender. I'm speculating but he had other offers so he was holding out for a reason.
