Generally it's better in the off season as a swap both guarantees the money and gets it to the play in the offseason instead of having to wait to get the checks during the regular season. For the Saints it facilitates pushing those dollars into future years lowering the cap hit now while upping the cap hit on future years. Gives flexibility in terms of signing others. SFIAH |
