As every scout said, the guy would probably have been a first rounder had he stayed in school and not had the problems. I don't doubt that those problems could continue to hound this kid... but assume for a second that they're behind him - is there any reason he cannot develop quickly and play very well at this level?
while there are those who think you learn more from the sidelines, i don't know of anyone who's learned to swim without being in the water....smitty

From what I saw of Bouman last year, when you factor in his years of experience and knowledge of the game-and see him play... it just tells me all that didn't help him look capable of coming in and winning ANY games for us, so" Hell Yeah"!, I'd take my chances with an ATHLETE over a WILY VET. Bouman's game is a factor in the way A.B. plays because you only have to look at the way he plays to know "HE"S NO THREAT" to anyone's job security!

Thats a good point there smity... noted. But they don't through you in the ocean with the sharks... or in the 12 foot deep section of the pool, there is usually that 3 foot section. I like A-mac and I hope he does wonders for us but to say start him now over brooks is stupid. To say he is 2nd string without even so much as a spring training camp under his belt just a bit looney to me.

I agree Eu that saying he should start over brooks is looney. As far as the backup though, I don't think it is out of the question to suggest he will be the backup. True, there is a chance he won't be and true we have not even seen the preseason. However, we have seen A-Mac's talent and potential and we have seen Bouman's lack of talent and potential which experience cannot surmount. So, to make the prediction that A-Mac will develop the small amount he needs to in order to have Bouman's inconsistent arm pushed to 3rd is not entirely out of the question.

1 A Brooks
2 A-Mac
3 A-nybody

that would be the quickest way to learn, no? for those comparing him to vick, what the hell is wrong with that? he has more experience than vick being placed in the mix immediately, no? while i know it won't happen unless brooks goes down, i would perfer to see him there over bouman if brooks did go down.........it would certainly fill the seats at the superdome, no? and oh, did i mention i learned to ride a bike on a bike? that is, when the neighborhood bully was'nt around.......smitty

So hell lets get rid of all the qbs and start amac, we don't need anyone else... then by the end of the year if amac didn't have the stats brooks has had we can him. This whole thing about feeding amac to the wolves is a bit crazy. I do like people are jumping behind a player (who hasn't played a down). But people are setting him up for a HUGE fall, if he doesn't pan out or needs sometime to develop. He comes in and doesn't fair well in one game, watch how many people change there mind about him. Now I always hope a player in a Saints uniform does GREAT... but setting expectations on him isn't good (stallworth).

I totally agree Euph. Be optimistic about the future, but focus on the present, which in no way is A-mac. It's AB, and I DON'T WANT TO HEAR PUT AMAC IN AFTER ONE SUBPAR GAME FROM BROOKS. Even though we all know thats how things work. AB will not be perfect this year, but he will improve. SUPPORT HIM.
