Commissioner has authority to take action over Rams-Saints outcome, in theory
And here’s where it gets even juicier. Consider Rule 17, Section 2, Article 3: “The Commissioner’s powers under this Section 2 include . . . the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary act occurred.”
Basically, the Commissioner has the power to turn back time to the spot of the penalty that wasn’t called, put the teams back on the field from that point in the game, give the Saints first and goal at the spot of the foul, put 1:49 on the clock, and let the game proceed, tied at 20, with the Rams having one time out left. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ome-in-theory/ |

He has the power granted by Rule 17, but not the testicles to exercise such power.

He hates us, as if he would ever do anything.

You CANNOT do that. THAT CANNOT BE DONE. It is a rule the NFL has, but one of those things just there for a just in case which will never be done. It is like one of those things you say, but you know you will never come true or you will never have to hold your word on. Have you ever done this? I have:D :D There is no way you can have a rematch. Logistics. History. Game being respected. Authentic. Careers of players. Stats. Media. NIW WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEN DIEN WAS at the time in the game, review. Replay. Pick up the game at this point.:( |

Exactly...no way that will ever happen...its a logistical nightmare and even more of a tarnish on the NFL. There is no reason that the flag wasn’t thrown on that play. If it was Williams or Apple the flag would have been thrown before the ball hit the ground.
I hope the Patriots destroy the Rams. I will always be a Saints fan but I’m done with this multi billion dollar league that can get simple calls correct. They can’t even come together as a group to discuss a potential game changing call like that?!? And because the league hasn’t addressed the issue with the firing of those refs I cannot trust this league to ever not be partial. |

At a minimum the official that was responsible for making that call should be fired and the head official for the game should be demoted.

Pardon my typos.
WhoDat!656, your point is best point. NFL should fire that entire officiating crew. |

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...wn-al-riveron/ Apparently Riveron was just one more Goodell screw up since he put him in that slot after Blandino resigned after the NFL refused to properly compensate him. Not sure what Blandino was asking for initially but after yesterday's ****up that number should double..at minimum. Call it a shame on you escalator. |
