Onyemata can also kick out to DE if necessary, once he's in the clear to play. I can't imagine he'll get more than a 3 to 4 game ban if anything. I just don't see it as a need at this point, more of a luxury.

Hear me out ...

Gotta get more pass rushing specialists (probably why we brought in Quinn and Ansah) Fry. The best teams in 2018 rotated their pass rushers in waves & you need guys fresh on the DL. We only have 2 (Cam/Davenport) legit pass rushers. I don't think the Saints have a whole lot of confidence in Trey. He hasn't hurt us but hasn't done anything special either.

And to your point, I don't see adding another player as a "luxury". In a pass happy league, you need 3 to 4 legit pass rushers. The "new league" is now based on passing and stopping the pass. NFL is a brutal sport and I expect guys to go down at some point of the season. Looking back at the 2015 Broncos & Philly Championship teams ... solid rotation throughout the season.

At the blink of an eye, you can go from deep at the position to signing guys off the street in less than a week.

I don't see Okafor's replacement on the roster ... yet.

You either break the bank for elite players or sign underrated guys who performed on elite level like Demario Davis, Malcolm Brown...

Guys that "showed potential in some games or had decent season" usually get overpaid. I'm not a fan of that approach.

Cowboys' interests in Quinn is leverage vs Lawrence, may backfire on them...

Cowboys still have several players to get extended in the next year...

I see your point, and I don't disagree. Ideally we would add one more guy who has a proven track record as a pass rusher. But with our cap situation as it is it feels more like a want than a need, unless it's a team friendly deal. Looking at the roster I still see big time question marks at WR and backup OT that need to be addressed, as well as needing room to sign draft picks. Of course we could continue to kick the can down the road, but with a core of young studs who will need extensions over the next few years I'd rather we stopped doing that so much. Sometimes you have to roll with what you've got and hope for the best. But hey, if they can find a way to make it work then I'm on board.

There's always a way to make it work.

I'd like to know what the Saints had in mind for an elite slot receiver...
