Things should start picking up now. As of yesterday, free agents no longer count toward the compensation formula.

For the many team in the league, but I'm not sure why that'd matter to Payton/Mickster because their strategy has never been to accrue compensatory picks...

While this is true the Saints may have had to wait for this date for the others to give their pitch.

Maybe the front office didn't have enough "trust" in Ziggy's shoulder or his ability to stay on the field .. specifically in late November.

Saints still need another DE though.
