please bring me back to reality
What the hell is wrong with me. I just watched us go the last four seasons really about 8-8 every year. Why do I think this year is different. Why do I think the o line is better then last years. Why do i hear all of the good things coming out of camp and jump on board like this is the year we have finally turned the corner. What in God's name is wrong with me. I swore after last season i would not get caught up in this again. It is ridiculous how they get me every year. But here i am again and i'm starting to think this is the year. Christ i am an idiot. But man i do love being that idiot even if it is only until Sept.

RE: please bring me back to reality
spkb25 - I feel your pain man.
On the one hand, this is that time of year that we always start to hear the hype. This is the time of year when expectations are high, every story that comes out is positive, and we all get giddy with anticipation of the new season. Every team's fans think that they're playoff bound this ear. Of course, there do seem to be reasons for optimism. The LBs played pretty darn well the last 4 games of last season, and they're all young and said to have improved in the offseason. If they can play 16 like they did the last 4, we'll be fine there. We improved at S, and we still have 3 nasty DEs. On O, our biggest problem, the line, was addressed well. The gameplan this season is to put the ball back in the hands of Deuce and "simplify" things, allowing Brooks easier reads, less thinking, quicker releases, etc. There is plenty of reason to think this team can be good. If I had to lay money down now, I'd say 10-6... but then I said that last season and look at where that got me. LOL. |

RE: please bring me back to reality
There is no reason not to be hyped right now. We haven't seen any of the players on the field this year. Some of our weakest areas were addressed (O-Line), but some weren't (LBs). Players can improve individually as well; players like Bentley, Stallworth, Holland, Watson, Bockwoldt, and Will Smith should be coming into their own about now! There will be some surprises too - I expect to see some interesting things develop at DT, LB, and TE this year.
You don't need to come down to reality yet. Wait until we've seen the a few pre-season games, or the first regular season game, then you can decide if you need to come down. Until then, I say "sail away, my friend". |

Another thing to be hyped about....we only have 10 plays now, so that should minimize some of the offensive confusion
McCarthy is gone, which is good. But he is replaced by his underling. We still have the same DC, which sux. Haslett lost his mind with the steroid stuff, which confirms that he is, in fact, a bit nuts. So....the coaching situation shouldn't make you feel much better. And, the Saints could be leaving town, which will hopefully bring you back to earth. In all seriousness, I like what we've done on D aside from letting the Falcons get Hartwell. I like what we've done on the O line and I like the fact that Adrian may push Brooks, which seems to have produced good results in the past. The discouraging thing is that LAST year was put up or shut up time and here we are again. I refuse to be optimistic or pessimistic. I will just wait for kickoff, knowing that I will be rooting hard for this team hell or highwater. There are reasons for optimism, there are reasons for concern. We'll see. Give me 12 beers and a TV or ticket to the game and it's GO TIME. |
