Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Four-year, $14.4 million contract. Sold signing this obviously means Ingram is gone.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
I like it. History aside, Ingram is a widget. Nonsense in overpaying for a cog. Goood luck Mark but we need a solid O line

The financial folks probably gave MI a number and a deadline. Unfortunate we'll lose Mark but the NFL is a business. I wish Mark well wherever he lands though. He gave 100% on every down. |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Not bad. Maybe Murray is a bit undervalued running behind a bad o-line in Minnesota and not really having a lot of offensive weapons around him back in his Oakland days.
We'll lose Ingram's reliability in pass blocking and catching, but Murray is a bigger back and more difficult to bring down. Could help wear down opponents in the 3rd and 4th quarter. |

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Man had a feeling he was gone. Happy we didnt over pay.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Ingram probably is going to get double that
good value with LM |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Kamara can do it all and better than most. Only concern is his size and his ability to remain healthy with that kind of work load. Any RB we have on the roster with him is nothing more than an insurance policy. May as well buy the cheaper one.
Good luck to Ingram. He was a solid player and good guy and wish him the best. |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
I'm not a fan of this move. I realize Ingram probably wanted more money than he's worth, given his percentage of touches. Still, he was one of the best for the locker room chemistry. And Murray in no way will fill Ingram's shoes.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Well I wish MI luck and thank him for all he has done for our club, also welcome aboard Mr Murray!

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
It’s a huge gamble...I just hope it pays off. I don’t like the idea of messing with our core offensive players but I trust the staff to make the right decision. I just hope Murray can pick up the offense quickly and contribute immediately.

Also it will be Kamara show. Dude is too good to be just 3rd down back. You don't pay 7-8 mil per year for 2nd option at RB position. Can't blame Mark, you have to take the money in this situation. Overall Mark is better player than Murray but Murray excels in things we need the most with Kamara as lead back. That's power running between the tackles and 3&1, 4&1 situations. |

Reality; he had a solid, unspectacular career and was paid well. If GB or someone else wants to give a 29yr old with 6000 career yards a 6 million dollar contract, so be it. We just got younger, bigger, cheaper |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Taking the emotion out of it, I’m fine with Murray as our #2 RB and he’s coming cheap.
Putting the emotion back into it... Don’t go Mark! I’m going to miss him so much. |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Good pounding rb to spell AK. I hate losing MIA but Murray is a good replacement
|
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Like Smash, I hated how we acquired Ingram - not the man, well, I hated his TD spasm dance, but I liked his team-first energy, spirit...
But the impact in acquiring him arguably cost four add'l high picks (one R1, three R2s) plus the first used if you factor the Belichick Trade (R2, FR1) and then Bountygate Penalty likely would have been only a first... His production was awful for the initial investment, he barely justified one third round pick; but over fiver years he finally became the lead back we'd sought and I felt re-signing him as we did was the right move... Was in favor of keeping him again, had his costs been the same with a raise for the adjustment for the cap inflation, but, alas, it is what it is... |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
Slight downgrade but great value. I do see him getting beat out by some unknown in camp.

Really? Dang I would take this bet any day of the week. Some are underrating Murray; he is only a slight downgrade due to his passing game inefficiency. As a runner I don't think the Saints miss a beat. |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
We are going to miss his catching ability big time if we don’t get a TE or slot receiver.

Murray is good for 12 carries a game and should provide nice balance at a level only slightly below Ingram |
Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
It’s what the Patriots would do. I feel bad though.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
I don’t think Murray will be a downgrade in the running game. And he’s reportedly good in pass protection. It’ll be as an outlet receiver and screens that I’m concerned about.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
I am OK with this move.
RBs are interchangeable, so this can work fine. Ingram had a good run here, but I don't think he ever lived up to his true potential with where he was drafted. He would have those amazing break out games, then the next week he'd struggle. I had a feeling he was gone after the past two years in the playoffs where he was a complete non-factor. With that said, I wish him well where ever he ends up. Don't think he is a major loss though. |

We win because of the numbers we gave him. I don't think we lose anything at all on the field. Although Mark was a real leader on the team.

Re: Saints Sign Latavius Murray
If the reported money Ingram is seeking is correct, I agree with the move but I hope Murray can pass block as well as Ingram did. Might take the locker room a little time to heal though.

If Cook was healthy he would have barely seen the field. Still a good RB but no Ingram. I do like the move and was hoping for something close to this pickup. |
