Could Saints lose Teddy Bridgewater? Dolphins plan to meet with QB

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I dont mind losing bridgewater. I see no evidence he is elite. If brees somehow could not take the field, i would rather tank and take the draft picks. If brees was out short term and bridgewater filled in well ...

If brees was out short term and bridgewater filled in well enough for us to sneak into the playoffs, I dont think we run the table on the road with the refs and crowd against us. I would rather spend the 6 million getting brees an extra target to win now.

This is assuming we "tank" at the right time, in a good year for college QB's. Even then it's a crap shoot. For every successful first round QB, there are 2 or 3 busts. Teddy isnt elite, but he's solid, and has plenty of time and opportunity to get better at only 26. He can keep us relevant at the very least. But if Brees retires and all we have is Taysom or *gulp* Ryan Tannehill waiting in the wings, we could be in for years of misery, hoping and praying for the right QB to come along. This would lead to coaching changes, management changes, lack of quality free agents signing on with us. Basically a full collapse of the franchise and all the effort put into making this a stable and respectable organization. So if we do manage to find another QB someday, it will likely take another 2-3 years after that point to build a competent and competitive team around him. I don't know about you, but that sounds absolutely dreadful to me. I became a diehard fan towards the end of the Mora years. I've seen enough bad football to last a lifetime, I don't want to see more.
