Sorry but I don't agree with these PFF guys. They also said Davenport was not impactful (they compare a safety to a DE)in 2018. Marcus was coming into his own before the injury. IIRC, he had better PFF stats than all DE rookies and a lot of proven vets.

Dude was an exceptional run defender, setting the edge (Deuce has been preaching this for years up until Marcus arrived) & rushing the passer.

These guys are too involved with metrics, highlights and not watching actual games.

MD is a damn beast. I liked the pick then, and I still like it a year later. We could have a Cam Jordan/Julius Peppers type impact player on our hands for the next decade.

Actually, I've had the opportunity to discuss this with them and they and their very comprehensive staff do watch actual games, creating player grades play by play...

That said, I shared my criticism that their should be an opposition factor (i.e. Lattimore faces Julio Jones, Mike Evans vs Tre' White in the AFC East) reflected in their grades...

I'll say it again. Davenport will make us forget about the cost real soon!

Just don't treat PFF as the gospel folks.

They actually praised (88.7 grade) All Pro Redskins Tackle Trent Williams vs Davenport who took his soul away for 4 quarters.

Remember Jeff Ireland was the mastermind behind drafting DeMarcus Ware from small town Troy. I think he hit it big again with Davenport.

Enjoy the ride.

They’re talking about how the Saints could’ve drafted a CB with that pick instead but they didn’t mention that Crawley had a pretty good season in 2017 so the need wasn’t as apparent at the time.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Hopefully Davenport lives up to his physical potential this season.

Too early for accurate analysis.

Davenport will be another Jordan for us. I called this trade and it was because he was the best in the draft and will be a great player for years to come.

Cam Jordan had 1 sack in a full rookie season and developed into a monster

Davenport had 4 sacks in limited duty and showed strength at the point of attack.

Pretty sure he will develop fine when he's healthy.
