Saints 2005 television advertising campaign
The New Orleans Saints announced that the club's 2005 television advertising campaign will break locally in New Orleans on all local networks, as well as ESPN and ESPN2, for the NFL Draft this weekend (April 23-24).
The 2005 Saints advertising television campaign -created in conjunction with Peter A. Mayer Advertising, Inc. in New Orleans -celebrates the loyalty of Saints fans in New Orleans and the Gulf South over the 39-year history of the team. "The loyalty of Saints fans over the years is one of the great stories in sports," said Saints Executive Vice President of Administration Arnold D. Fielkow. "Our new television advertising campaign celebrates the legacy of our great fans and we are excited to kick things off during draft weekend." The underlying theme for the 2005 Saints advertising campaign is "You Gotta Have Faith" and will include two different television spots highlighting this message (the first to break this weekend). The first of these two spots shows bumper stickers from the team's 39-year history and will take teams down memory lane with slogans such as: "The Saints Come Marching In", Sockit to 'em Saints", "Faith, Hope and Bum", "Cha-Ching" and "Bless You Boys." The commercial ends with a bumper sticker that reads: "You Gotta Have Faith". http://www.neworleanssaints.com/news...articleid=1344 |

So '08, do you like this one or not? The "Me and Julio down by the school yard" approach to marketing. I know you said that you hated some of the ones in the past. I think you said some on NFL network were emabarrassing. Was that you?

All these preseason P.R. ad campaigns are sad . The super market one last year was the topper , had Stallworth running through the market . Everytime I saw it I kept wondering when he was going to pull a hamstring . Keep wondering when we are going to get some real ones . Like : Haslett - We are looking forward to the upcoming season in New Orleans , where the Superdome should have some great rushing games . See we once again we did not address the linebacker position with any impact players so opposing teams should be able to run on the Saints all day long . |

A 15 second commercial , that has Venturi on a bus with the entire defense . Suddenly they pull up at a hooked on phonics store location . The whole team get's out and piles into the store location . You go to a cut scene with all the players nodding their heads in understanding with Venturi . Then the new slogan " We will stop a drive in 05 " the current have "Faith" ???? My answer is : Gimme a reason too ..... |

I agree. I'm kind of surprised that the Saints are playing to the loser mentality. I mean, they are clearly trying to capitalize on Saints fans' deeply rooted appreciation of their team, even when the team sucks. This is also probably somewhat a reaction to feelings amongst fans about not only the team, but about Benson and the moving talk as well.
All that said, "You gotta have faith," to me, smacks of, "Believe blindly, b/c we've given you no other reason to, this year or ever before." I'm sure Billy loves it. |
