Think there was only the one play he would have got to Brees had Ramczyk not held him. It was a good penalty and he more than held his own again

I'm not surprised about Apple. Honestly all the talk around that time was us trading for Patrick Peterson. We got Apple instead, he makes the safeties job a lot harder and cant tackle.

Conversely, Lattimore gave up a few against arguably the best WR in the game, but he tackled really well and played hard.

Hopefully with Onyemata amd hopefully Brown back next week this stops. It help the defense so much last year shutting down RB.

Apple gave up a big play early. Never to be heard from again. Which is great.

I was about to say the same thing. He’s not an elite cornerback or whatever but the guy gave up one big play and that was pretty much it. Will Fuller isn’t an easy match up, nor is covering a guy 1 on 1 with no safety help over the top.

I would say he is not elite, YET. He sure has the talent to be elite and I think he looked good yesterday.

He was pretty good in coverage after that first long catch but sure missed a lot of tackles that led to big yardage though on runs and a few pass plays. Hopefully he gets better.

PJ Williams didn’t have a terrible game considering that the Texans have some pretty good slot WRs. Once again, he was good in short areas but doesn’t have long speed. Be also made some big tackles. Even on that pass to Stills he wasn’t beat bad, it was a great pass but a bad coverage call for the situation.

That slant that Lattimore got beat on wasn’t either CBs fault, it was a nice pass through a hole in zone coverage. If anything it was Anazlone’s fault because he decided to pickup a WR running a drag in man coverage leaving the middle open.

Defense definitely needs some work but I didn’t expect them to shut down the Texans offense. 1-0 is all that matters and we are a game up on the entire division!

Happy the guys finally woke up and played ball. The secondary needs to regroup. Why they couldn't stop the Texans with 50 seconds left. I don't understand. They knew it was going to be passing plays. I'm concerned about them going into L.A. and Seattle.
