Maybe we will get lucky

Many very good Qb’s have been “discovered” as a result of star Qb getting injured. Could we be lucky enough to be one of those teams that seem to be finished for the season but wind up roaring back because the backup takes advantage of the opportunity? Foles did it, Brady did it, it COULD happen. I would expect it to take a game or two for him to start clicking with the offense. Payton has a little time to tweak the play book to the Qb’s strengths and maybe just maybe we get the end of the stick that’s not ****ty for a change.
We are lucky our division is pretty much a mess. Atlanta is the team beat.

This team is not Drew Brees, it's built AROUND Drew Brees. A week of prep and rest, Teddy B will be fine.

Our secondary will tighten up and d line will corral Wilson.

Re: Maybe we will get lucky

For most of the game (admittedly not all of the game, but most of it), this Saints defense could hang with a playoff-caliber team that was in the Super Bowl last year, and they kept it close enough that even without Brees, if Bridgewater had only made something like 3, 4, maybe 5 or so clutch plays, in the first 3 quarters, the game coulda, woulda, shoulda, might have been close and the Saints coulda conceivably squeaked it out in the end. In fact, the actual game was pretty close, well into the 3rd quarter, even though it didn't really feel like it, to US, watching Drew in a baseball cap and Teddy looking so miserable.

And remember in 2015, a game against the Panthers with Luke Freaking McCown at QB, that was also still a very competitive game and although it was ultimately a loss, it was a very entertaining game, and it nonetheless all came down to a somewhat crazy interception at the very end of the game, was that maybe even the very last play? And that game was against a Panthers team that later went on to the Super Bowl that year.

So I'm sorry that I'm NOT going to be all doom and gloom on all this, although it is certainly depressing. Maybe we WILL get lucky. We will have to play without Drew for a while and we will have to wait and see what happens.

And the Dude is right, our division is a hot mess. Atlanta did not look that good last night, other than a couple of exciting plays like that Julio 4th down thing which looked good, but was kind of a fluke, because the Eagles were selling out hard to stop the short 1st down at the sticks. But mostly, this division is a mess.

I too have no problem with the defense. Like you said they kept the score low until the 4th against a great offense. Kind of hard to keep that up when your offense goes 3 and out just about every drive. I almost
Started hoping for offensive penalties just so the defense could get a rest.

The thing that bothers me the most though is all the injuries aside from Brees.

The defense looked great for 3 quarters. They did their jobs until they were exhausted and fatigued to the point they collapsed.
