Re: What if Teddy does well while Brees is out?
The bar is pretty absurdly high for Teddy to take the job away. But if we're winning, and it gives Drew an extra couple of weeks to heal up, I dunno. If we're talking six weeks and a bye, I still think Payton would have that Atlanta game on November 10th, circled on the calendar. I already know who I'd want to see start that game.

Re: What if Teddy does well while Brees is out?
There could be some advantages to having Brees out for several weeks. I think Brees is such a thorough leader, that guys look to him for every little thing. Over the next 6 weeks, I think players can learn how to find a stronger source of internal motivation and work ethic. Players may have to look to other leaders on the rosters, and as such other leaders may have to emerge and find their voice within the locker-room. It may actually help the team play better overall for even when Brees is back.

When he was first signed last year, many fans hyped him up as our potential Steve Young and heir to Brees. Now those fans get a chance to see what life with Teddy really will be.
