Imagine if the music act had been John Fogerty doing "Re Born On The Bayou" instead of Green Day. The Clowns were shell shocked after that block!

Re: Saints History: Gleason Blocks The Punt

I was in 623. Just settled in after a nacho spill. I didnt give a damn about Green Day or Mr "Hey look at me I'm just like Jesus, only Cooler", so i went to the concession stand. 3rd down Fujita knocked the ball loose from Vick on a scramble, and one of our guys had a shot at a big fumble recovery, but couldnt keep it in bounds. I was like DAMN! Almost. But still, we were doing what had previously been impossible. Stopping Michael Vick. So then we're looking forward to good field position. Line up for the punt.
--- I didnt see Gleason's jailbreak, but Im just looking directly down., as you do in the Terrace--- and suddenly, in slow motion... it was like you were dreaming it... Ki-BOOM! You could hear it. unreal. Im still in that milli-second thinking about the good field position, as the ball's bouncing around, and Curtis DeLoach scoops it, and dunks on our Girod St. Goal Post. I couldnt hear myself. I couldnt hear my neighbors. I couldnt hear anything but the deafening, concrete-shaking ... roar is not a good enough word. It was this electric charge that we all had--- we didnt have a chance to even beat freakin Dog Killer, (we didnt know at the time about the dogs, but he was an a$$4ole, anyway.) and his Gang-- just happy to be there, having a party, and enjoying retaining our football team... (which is funny, I say "our," because im 2 hours closer to San Antonio, but if the Saints had moved there, I would have QUIT Football forever.)
---- ki-BOOM! I can still hear it. I didnt think we had it won at that point, but DAMN. They werent beating us. And we came to play... When Devery scored on the reverse, also in our Girod St. Endzone, It was when? 3rd quarter? Then it was over. You know how we have leads now, and you're still freaking now? There was none of that. It wasnt, "lets try to beat the Falcons." "Lets hope we can hang on to this." It was "Lets see how BADLY we can beat the Falcons." It was MAGIC. ki-BOOM!
---- The Curse went up into that black roof, past where that gondola used to be, and out, and it left us at precisely that moment. We all walked out, and shouted, and chanted, and high fived everyone, and then out on the still-F****d up streets, past a bunch of zombies on Canal, back to the half-lit Quarter to celebrate the half we did have. I'm old enough to remember feeling weird, when the Saints won. You were elated, happy, but kept looking up at the sky, to make sure there wasnt a crack, and Jesus wasnt coming back right then. It was magic and surreal at the same time. You were happy and scared. Saints win, praise God! What's it going to be on the streets? You tightened up your face, and walked hard.
--- I miss one thing about the old days. When you met a fan, you met a friend. Anyone who would be seen in Saints colors was a real Fan-- and we were so tight back then. It was like we were all riding the same Ark, escaping the same Flood.
--- You could chronograph Saints History in BG and AG. Steve Gleason's Block was biblical.

Love that clip, but the better one is the longer version where they eventually cut the camera to catch the look on the Falcons' coach's face, while the Dome is rocking and absolutely going nuts all around him. He's like, what have I gotten myself into....
