Observations from the game

So just watched the game as I couldn't watch last night due to work, here's what I saw;

So I would be the first guy to say that Taysom should be starting and I still believe that to some extent, HOWEVER; Teddy has done an admirable job and made some nice throws. More importantly, he's not made any game losing mistakes.

It's really tough for a backup QB to sustain long drives though when hes playing against 13 guys, Dallas' defense + Andrus Peat + Larry Warford.

Honestly, I'm surprised Brees didnt get injured earlier, those guys just have no clue how to handle a stunt or pass rush. Peat just looks lazy to be honest.

Defense was outstanding all game, until the final seconds where teams do what they always do - go after PJ William's and it worked. It's a good job morstead pinned them deep, because that completion could have been a back breaker.

We need to get a running game going that doesnt just feature Kamara all the time. You kept Washington over Ozigbo, use him or use Murray more!

Josh Hill - just ugh as usual, had a real chance to get us inside the 5, dropped a nice pass from Bridgewater.

Demario is a stud as usual, Onyemata is our 2nd best D lineman.

It seems like when Teddy manages to reel off a big run, we get it called back - yet that never happens when running QB's gash us.

Speaking of which, our Run D is insanely good.

Huge win, great job Saints.

Now onto a high flying Bucs team that will be playing with a ton of confidence.

Re: Observations from the game

I'd add special teams to your list.

Morestead can punt like no other. Lutz is becoming automatic. That 40+ yarder was damn near exactly in the middle of the goal post.

Last but certainly not least is Mr. Assumpton Deonte Harris. He makes up ground QUICKLY. No tip toeing, dancing, just hits the lanes and goes. He gave our offense a short field on a couple of occasions.

This is so true.

Re: Observations from the game

Yep, defense and special teams were great last night. They won the game for us.

Teddy did pretty well, I thought. He had a lot of pressure but didn't completely fall apart. I'd like to see some deeper passes from him, but that's not his style of play.

The penalties!! Good lawd, they've got to do something about those penalties!! I think I remember seeing some stats years back about how many more penalties the Saints received while wearing white... anyone else remember seeing that? If so, time to go all black.

Speaking of penalties ...

We rank #4 (in a bad way). Gotta clean this up asap.

I am a Teddy supporter but taking that sack instead of stepping up to throw away the pass like he thrown away with 2 seconds left before half to Cook left me bewildered. With that said I believe he should continue to be the starter

Deonte Harris? Didn't he survive 5 draft rounds by 32 NFL teams?

Re: Observations from the game

They are focusing on holding penalties across the board this year. Fans finally figured out the NFL controls the outcome of games using the refs to call PI. Now they are going to use holding to do the same thing because the average fan won’t recognize it as easily.
Speaking of penalties how good of a season do you think Julio Jones will have now that they are starting to call offensive PI?

Re: Observations from the game

Murray is a bust at replacing Ingram. Terrible set of circumstances that allowed for that to happen. It's Kamara or bust at RB and we have to pray that Kamara's body holds up.

Bridgewater is doing well enough but at some point these drives need to end up in the endzone. We have scored 10 times with Bridgewater at QB and 8 times ended in a FG. He's generated only 38 points in nearly 3 full games. We all know that isn't gonna cut it long term. These close wins may start to turn into excruciating losses, and soon.

This defense is becoming healthier and it's starting to show these past two weeks. First Onyemata, now Rankins. Also Davenport getting his sea legs and becoming a force off the edge after a slow start to the season.

Lutz may very well be the best kicker in the NFL. I used to have the caveat "after Tucker", but now I leave that out. We can argue that one if you care.

Deonte Harris will be the defacto best return man in football within 3 years.

Need to get Taysom involved in this offense to take some of the pressure off Bridgewater to do all the work.

Cook finally starting to get into the action. That needs to continue and then some.

I thought the 1-2 punch with Kamara and Murray was working pretty well that last drive. We just need to see more of that. Maybe it’s a rythem thing with them and it’s just a matter of time.
