CB situation just ruined our chance to get the key WR in FA

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Who says we're bringing in a free agent? Loomis might just stand pat and hand the draft picks he saves over to Jeff Ireland next year and watch him do his thing....

Re: CB situation just ruined our chance to get the key WR in FA

We cut Zenner Tuesday, which hints at AK being healthy this week.
I'm not arguing with Apple's mom about anything, so hopefully we are a go there

I'm 100% on board with trading for a wide receiver, but it's worth noting that we are already down our 2nd and 7th round picks.

And next year's FA will be no picnic:
QB Drew Brees
QB Teddy Bridgewater
LB A.J. Klein
CB Eli Apple
CB P.J. Williams
CB Ken Crawley
SS Vonn Bell
DT David Onyemata
OG Andrus Peat
FB Zach Line
RB Dwayne Washington

Based on initial numbers ....

AJ Klein
Ken Crawley
Andrus Peat
PJ Williams
2 Glove Teddy

All are gone in 2020.

I’m hoping we can keep 2Gloves, but everybody else can go. As far as Jamison Crowder, he’s definitely an upgrade over Carr. Crowder would also add a little more speed to the position. He’s a 4.5 guy. Not blazing, but decent speed.

Treadwell is a bust, and I never use that term.

Possibly peaked at Ole Miss? Unfortunate & Zimmer has given him more than enough time to reach his potential.

Maybe he needs more coaching up/change of scenery but his confidence has been shaky.

Carr 1 catch

TLL 0 catches

J Hill 1 catch

TG Jr 3 catches

Arnold 0 catches (dropped a TD)

Anyone that tells me we don't need another option/#2 WR is kidding themselves.

Finally someone remembers our offense less times that count.

Another thing to consider in a trade is losing draft picks for established Vets hurts the cap. We need to draft one like we did MT and get them on that rookie scale for a few years.

So much anxiety...

Pats and Niners OVERPAID for their trades. It’s clear the front office isn’t willing to give that much compensation for a role player WR. Sit tight. I’ll bet you we find the right player
not anxious

Thomas covers the ball - the defense isn't out on the field for Apple to get hurt

Thomas + another good veteran WR = more spread out - less double teamed pass coverage

perhaps to the detriment of our deep playoff run

Thomas and Kamara get doubled up and we don't have that many more weapons - watch late 2018
