Worst Draft Pick ever?
I posted something concerning Sully today and had a thought after Halo responded, OK here's the question:
Biggest draft bust in Saint's history? I am going to have to say Sully since he is the most recent and certainly is the biggest if you know what I'm sayin. |

Russell Exlaben (however you spell his name). How many seasons did he even play? He signed w/the saints hung around for a couple of years, and retired?
From NFLUK.COM: "In 1979 the New Orleans Saints described Texas kicker Russell Erxleben as, “The type of player who comes around once in a great while. According to Coach Dick Nolan. “He could solve several of our problems for a long time to come. Only the second kicker to be a first-round draft pick, Erxleben was a staggeringly disastrous choice even by New Orleans’ standards, kicking a total of 4 out of 8 field goals in a five-year career with the Saints. He was asked to play punter, and was not much good at that either. Erxleben went into business after his football career and was no better at that – he was imprisoned for seven years in 2000 for financial irregularities." Perhaps we can imprison some of other disasters. |

The Ricky decision was retarded. That only ended OK b/c it eventually led us to draft Deuce and then make up some picks when Ricky went to Miami... of course, we did spend one of those picks on Sullivan did we not? LOL
Just think how pissed you be right now if the Ricky weed saga had gone on here and there was no Deuce... or Bentley/Stallworth/Grant... whoever it was that we got with the other Miami pick. |

I still have to go with Sullivan being a bigger bust than Ricky's deal being bad. At least Ricky was a good player and we got something out of him on the field. We've gotten nothing out of Sullivan so far.
