Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Having some time to think on this; maybe this loss was coming?
Our offense really is not that great anymore and hasn't been since Thanksgiving of last year. I still think they've been figured out and not fixed since the Cowboys loss of last year. With Bridgewater in, Payton was more daring, more risky and had to gameplan better. I liked Bridgewater but even with that offense, we really didn't light it up. They didn't turn the ball over and did just enough to let the defense handle all the heavy lifting. The decline is real with Brees and I knew it was real last year. This was bad, but we're probably in for a much worse rude awakening down the line. Yesterday, the defense simply couldn't do it all. They tried and wore out, a lot of that was due to our offense not helping them by constantly punting. The Falcons had a weak secondary and really could've been exploited, but that's hard to do when you throw checkdowns every chance. I had a bad feeling all week over this game, but couldn't tell anybody cause the confidence was soaring high in Saints universe. I felt like it was over on that final drive before half time, where Brees had 2 guys WIDE OPEN for touchdowns, and both times, he just throws checkdowns to Kamara and we play for a field goal instead of a touchdown. What was up with that? No killer instinct of the past. We were playing to not lose and ended up losing, as what always happens with that strategy. Yesterday I saw a team that just looked completely exposed and powerless, possibly buying into their own hype. This is embarrassing for it to come after a bye. But we did this to ourselves. All this talk about not having WRs; we're the only contending team who didn't bother making any trades. We could've fought for Emmanuel Sanders and instead let him go to the 49ers. The Ravens got Marcus Peters who is having a career resurgence there, the Pats got Sanu. Who did we get? No one. |

The draft move for Marcus Davenport has hurt us more than I thought. Do you know what we could have done with those two 1st round picks and the 5th rounder?

No shots to the endzone, even when in the red zone - just short passes and expect Kamara to dodge everyone to the endzone. No attempt to make this receiving core (which is the worst it's been in the Payton era) any better in FA or Draft. Just watched the 9ers and Hawks, they got everyone involved - we'll be in trouble if we see either of those 2 in the playoffs. |

Is it coincidence that this was the "UPSET" weekend.
Tennessee beats the Mahome led Chiefs The "Big Benless" Steelers beat the Rams The Dolphins beat the Colts The Browns beat the Bills The Falcons beat the Saints The only undefeated team gets beat...........$$$$$$$$$$$ (Entertainment and Legalized Betting.) |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
As I read through multiple threads after this game I can not help but notice that some very smart people get so blind when Brees is part of the discussion...
Lets cover it all and point out why some of the crap I am reading is just that... crap. Please correct any of the below if you find that something is unfounded. "We should be playing Teddy's game plan and running more". ~ Well. Mr. Bridgewater and our run game never had to play out of a hole. What do most teams swap to when they are two scores down? Passing. ~ Our Line wasn't blocking for crap and the run game wasn't there. If the O-Line is out of sync and there is no blocking you cant run or pass. ~ 'Drew is padding his stats'.. 2016 called and they want their comment back. He has been out nearly 1/2 a season, there is nothing to pad. When you are down by 2 and in the 4th Quarter you pass to catch up, its basic football understanding. ~ Drew is just staring down receivers... You mean the same receivers that need to be replaced because they couldn't catch the drip in a Korean whore house? Drew is doing what Teddy did... waiting for Michael Thomas to be open so that someone catches the damn pass. Lets talk Offensive Line: ~ The Falcons defense had 6 sacks, a defense that took a half a season to accumulate 6 total scaks before Sunday. I see comments of 'blaming the offensive line is just avoiding the real QB problem'... Do you even understand football? ~ Murry averaged 2.4 YPC, has his lowest since week 3. ~ Falcons defense had 5 tackles for losses. (We had 4 and 1 sack) ~ Vick Beasley had 1.5 sacks and his time to sac was 3.34 seconds, 16th fastest in the league (that isn't a coverage sack, it is an offensive line failure to touch him). Now lets talk about the Defense ~ Allowed 24 first downs, worst all season. ~ Allowed 143 yards rushing, worst since week 1. ` Allowed 317 yards passing, worst since week 3. ~ Atlanta had 7+ more minutes with the ball than we did. (SEVEN #$*&ing MINUTES) ~ Atlants was our Defenses worst showing since week 3. ~ If our defense let teams put up 26 every game against Teddy we would have lost to Dallas and Jacksonville and he would be 4-2. To sum it all up: All of that sh1t above and the QB position is the problem...???? One other thing.. I don't recall hearing one damn murmur about play calling or our QB being done when we beat the Cardinals 31. The game where Murry averaged 4.9 YPC, the offensive line blocked and the defense was stifling. Just because we lost a game, doesn't mean we need to lose our $%^*ing minds as well. |
