Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
OL did not show up today.
Too many penalties... Lethargic energy throughout the game, unfocused. 28 and 41 not used much today. Move on from today and forget it. It's a new week next week. Saints still a top team. Can't win them all. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I figured we would lose one to the Failclowns or Panties. Maybe 1 more before playoffs. I'd rather beat the Failclowns thanksgiving night though. This loss will humble them.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
We laid our yearly egg. Nothing new or shocking at all.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Good energy coming off the bye, Ginn continues to improve his reliability. Peat doesnt get enough credit

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
1. The penalties were back from the start of the season and it bit us in the ass.
2. Clapp looked like absolute trash out there, he got beaten like a drum all day long. Huge drop-off from Peat. 3. No pressure from the D-line on a hobbled Ryan. 4. It felt like we abandoned the running game too early in the game. 5. The penalty on Gray was nothing to discuss. But what a boneheaded play in that moment. 6. Harris was the only bright spot with a couple of good returns. 7. Thomas had a "quiet" game but is still a man among boys. 8. If Lattimore is out for an extended period we will be in trouble. Him being able to shut down the opposing no1 WRs are a key to our defence. 9. The mentality wasn't there today. We looked unconcerned and uninterested. Looked like we got fat and happy during the bye week. 10. Playcalling felt predictable on offense. I could guess half of the plays as we were lining up. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Klein slow as hell
Ginn catch cant catch Even when we get into the red zone, we throw short - Zero aggressiveness Cam Jordan and the D line were invisible O line got bullied by a team that had 7 sacks on the season |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Second time this year Payton got greedy in garbage time and left his starters in to get injured when the game was out of hand. First Apple now Thomas.
Brees isn’t in it for the team he’s in it for the stats. |

I don’t really know where to go with this. This loss is inexcusable. You want to lose, lose on the road against a great defense. You don’t lose at home against a 1-7 team with a bottom 3 defense.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Falcons
29th in rushing - ran for 160 yards 30th in defense - held us to 9 points and got 6 sacks Pathetic Saints, simply pathetic. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Boy how fast can I forget about this game...

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
This was the first time in the Sean Payton-Drew Brees era that we haven’t scored double-digit points at home.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
This game showed why having a #2 receiver is needed
|
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Coulda had Lamar Jackson... but no, we had to have Marcus Davenport.
|
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Not scoring a TD against the 30th ranked defense is pathetic.
This game proved beyond any reasonable doubt, we are the only ones living in La La Land unable to realize our 40 year old QB is well... a 40 year old QB. I hope to god we win the SB this year cause time is truly running out with Brees. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
The last few weeks we have pounded the rock and worn down defenses until we could carve them up in the 2nd half... We didn't do that at all this week.
Our penalties kept Ryan on the field. We arr 8-1 seeing as how we beat ourselves this week. A win is a win right? |

Glad that’s out of the way. Now use it to you advantage.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I'm sick of the conservative plays.
When we get in the red zone, Brees never throws to the endzone anymore, we always throw short and try to make AK run it in. Super Vanilla and easy to defend. You've got 7 foot Jared Cook and the best WR in the league on the team, be aggressive and throw them a ball down there. I dont know if its play calling or Brees becoming captain checkdown - but we just arent that high flying offense anymore. Before Brees could make a play out of nothing and make receivers better than they are - he cant do that anymore and that's why I notice the decline. The protection has to be perfect for Brees now for him to make a play. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I'm really not sure why Sean Payton didn't use Latavius Murray more in this game. Also not having a true #2 is gonna cost us long term.
Ginn was terrible today and Cook was MIA 2nd half. All we have is Michael T at WR. The game was really lost in the trenches though. Worst O line (PEAT was bad pre injury) performance I've seen from the Saints in a while. Anyway, I'm on to the Bucs. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
ATL is a decent team that was on a 7 game losing streak, it had to end somewhere.
Shame it was in a loss, but Demario Davis was a beast out there today. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I don't know what the game plan was. Zero rhythm. Nothing looked right and everyone was off. O-line got blown the hell up. But as soemone mentioned earlier Brees, Payton, and the team lays an absolute egg at least once a year. Division games are the hardest. Next week will show us where they are. Who Dat!!

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
So looking at the stats over the last 10 games we are a better offense when Kamara is not playing... just the fact.
I think Payton and Brees relies too much on him. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I think it should be noted that Armstead was playing with the flu. Combine that with the Peat/Clapp void at LG and it’s no wonder the O-Line struggled.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
I had a bad feeling about this game; I was unable to watch because I was on the road.
The failclowns always play us tough and this was their Super Bowl; they aren't that good and the Saints aren't that bad. The Saints were in good company today, Chiefs lost to the Titans, and the Steelers beat the Rams. The Saints will get back on track next week against Tampa. |

Hello.. Hello.. what happened who turned out the lights. Just got out of the Cellar is it over yet..

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
Team will be fine. I can live with the hand to the face penalties, those will get cleaned up. What I can’t live with are the two 1st down runs by Ryan. He ain’t LJackson. Those were crucial stops that we needed.
Our route combinations are bad. To me guys are running routes to open up MT. Terrible play calling stopped our momentum. Murray needs the rock. Game would have been different if he’s allowed to get his touches. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
This isn’t new, this is the life of a Saints fan since I was born. No matter how good you think they are, there’s always a couple complete WTF games per season.
|
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Falcons
If we're not going to make a trade for another receiver, get Taysom more work with the WR's.
Some cheap options that could help via trade: Robby Anderson Demarcus Robinson Danny Amendola Keelan Cole Tajae Sharpe All are free agents at the end of the year so a 3rd day pick should work for the majority there except Anderson. |

A ton of bad calls but TA is way over paid. He got abused all game. Drew has the quickest release and still couldn’t get the ball off
