Yeah, Kamara and Drew Are Washed Up

All I hear is that Kamara is trash and Drew should just retire now and not even finish the season. Still think that's true after last nights game?

I heard Garic on the Point after show mention that Brees has thrown 12 TD's/0 INTs over the last 12 quarters.

Crazy stat but he's not done yet.

If Kamara's problem was a nagging injury and he's now getting healthy, the timing couldn't be better...

Like the article says. "This offense could be awfully dangerous with quarterback Drew Brees, receiver Michael Thomas, tight end Jared Cook and Kamara all in peak form at the same time." Just replace "could" with "will."

He still struggles to break tackles but he's great in open space to make defenders miss. I think he's getting better but the leg drive isn't there yet.

I know Kamara had an injury, but I don't get the sense it was ever as serious as people are convinced it was. He wasn't playing well before the injury. The injury, itself, only made it worse. But he lacked decisiveness and looked frankly disinterested, at times, for a few weeks before he got hurt.

I could make some guesses as to what was behind that, but there's no point in that. All I know is he came out yesterday looking like the same Kamara we've seen for weeks, and had that play where he just gave up and went out of bounds. And, as I said in an earlier post, you could see Drew was not pleased, and I think there was probably a "spirited" conversation on the sidelines, afterwards, because it was after that point that a light just seemed to come on and he looked like his old self again.

To me, that is a sign that there was more than just an injury holding him back. There was a lack of focus/fire, for whatever reason, and he just needed something to get him back in gear. I realize this is just speculation on my part, but I think basic understanding of human nature and seeing how that switch suddenly flipped makes it a plausible theory.

Sounds reasonable. Can’t say Brees ever lacked Fire. He’s had bad days. Some really bad days. But drive and effort was never in question. I could see Brees sharing some “fire” after Kamara stepped out of bounds, especially since we ended up punting one play later.

An injury doesn't have to be serious to have it effect you seriously. Ingram had turf toe and played like dry **** for at least half a season. For Kamara's running style, something very small can change his ability to run the way he should. What I noticed wasn't his fire being gone, it was his patience. That hand on someones ass waiting for the opening wasn't there for start of the season, he was running into holes that were not there... like, you know.. Ingram. lol Kamara is not a pinball style running back.

Kamara has been terrible for weeks. Looks like he’s turned it around though after that long TD run.

I think it has been more of our screen game has been terrible. Seems to me defenders are sniffing out our screens at the snap. AK gets the ball and is trying to elude tackles right away. I’ve only seen J. Hill be successful catches screens in the last few weeks. I don’t think teams are game planning for Hill. We’ve gotta get more creative getting AK the ball.

Agree, watching a few games yesterday, it was obvious that something is wrong with our screen passing game. Kamara was getting hit before he could get back to the line of scrimmage. A number of times our blocking was bad, or nowhere to be seen. So, basically we are running naked screens with Kamara.
