Observations from Saints loss to the Vilings

Poor early play cost the team.

When Peat went out, the OL played better.

Another no call OPI.

Kamara still not himself.

Sucks to lose.

Not having an offensive threat @ WR not named Michael Thomas caught up with us as I expected. Go get a legit #2 this off season. At worst, draft one. Trequan ain't the guy.

Don't know where this team would be without the heroics of Taysom and Deonte Harris.

Said it all season, will say it again. Need another receiver. Ginn needs to go. Kirkwood needs to go, pretty much the bulk of the receivers needs to go. Only Thomas, Harris and maybe Smith should stay. Make Kamara work for his money next year. I can't think of anything else needed.

Trequan Smith dropped a ball in his hands too. Let's be fair.
Why Cook didn't show up until late 4th quarter is beyond me. Did he sleep with someone's wife?

Deonte and Taysom literally carried the offense down the field, then the one play Brees came back in for he fumbles. Not to mention the ill-advised throw into double coverage.

I know you can't wait for Brees to go. I know we can't wait for him to leave so you'll feel better Dizzle. Brees Brees Brees.

I did not say I want him to leave, but the fact that no one will put any blame on him is laughable. The guy messed up and everyone tries to find different things to point to.

You're an idiot. I'd like to see you banned. Pick another team and go away.

Grow up? Your performance in the chat room is talked about in private messages all season long. Trust me when I tell you most of us would like to see you banned. You're an idiot.

Blame is on Brees the online, defense, special teams, coaching. I'm so tired of Williams getting beat. (26). Lultz miss hurt but he has been as reliable as they come and he still came thru in the clutch. It was OPI but everybody and their momma knew the refs are not going to give that to us. We have to beat other teams and the refs and the past 3 years has shown us that. We shouldve been up double digits in the 4th and they should've known that coming in and then the refs have no control. Very frustrating game.

Just not FANBOY enough, dizzle.
Sean just doesn’t know how to coach the big games. He finds the winning formula, then ditches it for the big games.

Oh man... I would love to know who ran the wrong route. I’m looking at a replay and we’re lined up four wide. Cook and Ginn on the outside with Smith and MT in the slots. Everybody runs a little curl route except for Thomas and that’s where Brees is looking first.

If I saw one thing about Brees that bothered me (other than the bad bomb into double coverage) it seemed like he was really struggling coming off his first reads and getting the ball out to check downs. It was puzzling.

We likely win going away if we had Rankins and Davenport. Those two injuries were brutal.

Brees was awful.

That was a push off.

Vikings made fewer mistakes. They were the better team today.

That fumble and pick were bad plays by him and ultimately cost us, but that man was underpressure the WHOLE game

What puzzled me was why Jared Cook was totally absent from the game until late 4th quarter. Then, it's like we were holding him out for something like a sneak attack and he comes in and catches like 4 balls in a row. We needed him all game!

What is that? Why do that? Why depend on receivers known to drop balls during the season and hold Cook out? Makes no sense whatsoever.

See now that’s a good observation. I’m as emotional as the next Saints fan after a loss like this, but I try to avoid sweeping generalizations like “Brees sucks now.” It must be a lack of trust in his pass catchers.

Remember when we weren’t predictable?

FBs for TDs on wheel routes and stuff?

Re: Observations from Saints loss to the Vilings

For whatever reason the Saints are a finesse team at home but not on the road? Latavius Murray had 7 total carries today. Only 7.

Credit the Vikes for staying committed to the run but Dalvin C really abused us today.

We were unpredictable when Teddy was at QB for 5 weeks... last 2 weeks of the regular season were good too but we were playing teams that didn’t need the win at all.

Don't worry Dizzle. This is as menacing as Saintfan gets: "It's not just me -- EVERYONE is talking about YOU!".

That's all he's got. LOL.

BTW: I say Brees can stay until he is in a wheelchair.

It’ll be the same story next season. 3 seasons in a row that Brees (and others) don’t show up in the playoffs. Taysom was the only reason we were in this game at all.

I just want something to change and I am hoping it’s Drew calling it quits.

You Brees naysayers are crazy
Did he fold under pressure and make 2 bad turnovers?

Yes

Has this ever happened before?

Call for Peat or Warford’s head today not Drew’s

The o-line play sucked. Yep, Brees didn’t play well. Yep, Kamara looked bad. But pocket time and holes for a run game were nonexistent. The Saints signature screen didn’t exist all year because every screen was a naked screen, because the line never got down field.

Re: Observations from Saints loss to the Vilings

Quick Hits

  • Go right to it - we had 'em, we absolutely had 'em, Taysom was killin' 'em and once again, Sean showed everyone it was his team and he was smarter than everyone else...

  • Don't know if we're not running it enough in practice, but Drew, and even Taysom, underthrew our WRs down the field...

  • Speaking of deep throws, trusting Ginn this long is all on Payton-Mickster - the guy doesn't fight for the ball and that should not be allowed on the roster...

  • We won't find out so long as Payton is in New Orleans & Saints Media Muscle Greg Bensel strong-arms our press, but I'd like to know what happened with Lattimore down the stretch, in game, not good...

  • Took way too long to get Jared Cook going; may be wrong, but I don't recall his first target till the fourth quarter on a brilliant drive...

  • AJ Klein and Trey Hendrickson took sh*t all year from this fanbase, but both those guys made plays that kept us in the game...

  • Still believe Onyemata is a better, more reliable, available, DT3 than Rankins, but not having Davenport really hurt; and having two first round picks on IR doesn't get it done in the playoffs...

  • One more thought on Davenport, it's not on him he was hurt, it was the foolishness in putting two picks into one player when Jeff Ireland has shown he can get it done when he's got the bullets...

  • Transitioning on that thought, Gardner really stepped up as a rookie and while McCoy played to his billing, Gardener was a gift falling to us, along with Shy Tuttle, who's gonna be big for us...

  • It's time for offensive line changes; Ramczyk was All-Pro; if McCoy's on a larger market team, he'd be All-Pro; but the rest of these over-paid clowns didn't gave little return on their investment...

  • We didn't realize it, but the death-blow was not making a WR deal at the trade deadline (KMajor); am told DEN asked for more from NO than SF; no surprise with Payton's reputation on overpaying...

  • Drew didn't seem to have the same energy, concentration, poise today - it happens; should he shut it down, it'll be a sad commentary on Payton not bringing home more Lombardi hardware with Brees at QB...

  • Lastly, there are are many QB with diverse strengths - runners, passers; but very few inspire teammates in the heat of battle the way Taysom Hill does; If Brees retires, Taysom should be our guy...

Re: Observations from Saints loss to the Vilings

I hate we put so much on the O line... some of it is deserved but he was the least sacked QB all year. We have all pros and pro-bowlers across the line. Outside of Peat everyone of them is solid. Yes, Drew was pressured, but he still needs to be better pressure or not.

I want our version of Lamar Jackson let loose. You know what you got in Drew, a guy that can get it done if all his guys around him play well. Taysom could be special and it’s being wasted.
