Window is probably closed with this regime. offseason is going to be tricky. it's probably time for drew to retire. while there are still things that he does better than anyone in the league, like pre-snap reads, he and sean both are just overthinking things to a fault. especially against tougher teams. this isn't new. for the last 3 or 4 seasons we've seen baffling 3rd down plays, cutesy play calling when we should just be lining up and beating our opponents. they've taken being a finesse team to the extreme. combine that approach with drew's glaring limitations (deep ball, mobility, panicking under pressure) and we're just not gonna beat a lot of good teams.

does sean need to go to? i'd say his coaching /w teddy starting showed that he can adapt and get out of his element and be successful, but if we're being honest, during that stretch the defense were the ones that mostly bailed us out. but something else to consider, if we were to replace sean, would this franchise be treated differently by the league/officials? its worth considering. while we have applauded sean's brazen attitude towards the league, i'd argue there's a strong chance that it's done us no favors. sean could leave tomorrow and nothing could change, but i do think it deserves mention in any discussion about payton's future here.
