Add to that the fact that he is still a better all round QB than any other available replacement. That is just totally mind-boggling.

It’s true but don’t say all around AG his arm can can no longer dish it out long. Not knocking still a top 5 QB

By all round I mean that he has strengths that by far outclass most other QBs. There are QB's with stronger arms, more agility, and taller, but none are more accurate and few have a faster release or the ability to read a defense as well. I doubt that any work as hard to remain in top physical condition and have the understanding of the offense provided by Sean Payton. The Saints very well may never again see the success that we have enjoyed for the past decade and a half.

Re: Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?

I didn't bother to read the whole thread. The Saints don't have a problem with Sean. He is an elite coach. He is an elite motivator. He, more maybe than even Drew, is the face of our franchise, and we are blessed beyond measure to have him running the show. He has faults. I can't think of another coach in college or the NFL I'd rather have running our show. I can say the same for Loomis as GM. We are blessed.

Drew has more in the tank. He's not young. He's not going to run around and beat you that way. If we can solidify the oline Drew can get it done at a very high level. Drew is not our problem.

As I see it, our defense is good enough. We need some help or better play on the back end, but we're good enough there to win 10+ games. I'd like to get better, but we don't suck on defense.

We suck at WR outside Thomas. We...suck. I realize Dez is old and all that goes with that, but I was willing to give it a go because we have NOBODY at WR outside Thomas. Nobody.

Our biggest problem? Roger. I know, people don't want to hear it, but not wanting to hear it doesn't make it less true. Roger is controlling the games to the extent they can be controlled without an NBA style fix. It breaks my heart. I love the NFL. I've been watching games for decades, and it's pretty clear. The refs are not 'bad'. The rules are out of control, and it is clear that certain calls are made or not made at crucial times which are obviously either "missed" (with intent) or made up. This is not exclusive to Saints games. I think if we had the data Roger has we'd better understand the favoritism shown to a given team or teams from one season to the next. I'm in advertising. Advertising is the name of the game, which means ratings, which means markets, which means Roger has a directive based on what the NFL "needs" in a given season or even week to week. I'd bet the farm on it being true, if I had a farm...

I'm slowly recovering from last season, and I'll be ready to go come training camp. Still, I'm convinced Roger still has an issue with Sean and nobody will convince me games are not officiated to that end.

That's what I'm thinking Skymike.

Re: Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?

The logical solution to me is to bring Drew and Taysom back and expand upon what we started on this last season. Evolve into more of a true 2-QB system. It's not supposed to work in the NFL but we were starting to prove otherwise. Go for it and give it a shot.

Re: Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?

What I’m hearing on some networks pft for one is saying we will have to come with 15 mill to keep taysom because the patriots for one is going to come strong for him . teddy definitely won’t be here . what’s it’s telling me Sean is not ready to give up his toy . So it’s tells me we have to pick up a serviceable qb off somebody that will take vet minimum to keep the train going . Unless unless unless Drew hangs it up.

Re: Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking?

I think Taysom Hill's value is not at QB. It is as the joker which he has been excelling. The only reason he was able to be used as much as he was was because we had a true backup QB. Do not forget how little Taysom was used when Brees was sidelined. If he was the backup, or the starter, he wouldn't have as much of an impact. I just don't see him as an effective starter anywhere and his use would be limited as the primary backup, as well. His limited success passing has always come as the result of a trick play of sorts. He only completed three passes in six attempts on the season for a total of 55 yards.

We need another backup QB to replace Bridgewater and keep Taysom as weapon.
