That balance went entirely out the window when Brees came back and we had to start chasing records for him to pass Manning on the all time TD record. These last 3 playoff exits have been brutal. We averaged 30+ points in the regular season the last two years, yet couldn't score more than 23 points in the playoffs, and all these games with the exception of the 2017 Vikings game were at home where we are supposedly invincible. Between 2009 to 2011 (Brees' prime) we averaged 36 points in the playoffs and that is including losses to Seattle and SF. The way I see it; Brees has all the records he wanted and he won a SB. He will never have to face the scrutiny or absurd BS that guys like Dan Marino and Jim Kelly have to face with being labeled "playoff chokers" because at the end of the day, he has a ring. That one ring is why few people in the media criticize Aaron Rodgers when he stinks it up in the playoffs. Ring gives you the benefit of the doubt no matter what. Brees will always be a god to us. If he retires now, he ends on a higher note than he would going another year and us losing in the first round of the playoffs again. |

Re: Drew Brees will “give it a month or so” before making his decision
People keep bringing up the fact that we went 5-0 with Bridgewater at QB like it was his play that was responsible and how Brees has regressed and needs to hang it up.
Our defense was at its healthiest during the five game stretch when Brees was sidelined and played at their highest level. That's what was responsible for that stretch of wins, not Bridgewater's arm or decision making. I keep reading on here about Brees' lack of arm strength and how Teddy should be our future. Brees averaged more yards per attempt (7.9 to 7.1), more yards per completion (10.6 to 10.4), double the touchdowns per attempt (7.1 to 4.6), better completion percentage (74.3 to 67.9), far higher QB rate (116.3 to 99.1), much higher QBR (74.2 to 45.0), and much lower sack percent (3.1% to 5.8%) than Bridgewater. And these are just a few of the stats where Brees clearly outperformed Teddy. Bridgewater is at best an average NFL QB and is not the answer for our future. For that matter, I don't see Taysom Hill as an answer either. |

Re: Drew Brees will “give it a month or so” before making his decision
@ChaChing, I mostly agree with you and like how you said it.
I am late respond to the elephant in the room, Brees. WAIT EVERYONE AND READ WHATVI AM SAYING BEFORE YOU READ WHAT I DID NOT SAY. I AM NOT SAYING RESIGN BREES OR TRADE HIM. THE Saints live and die , make some just decent seasons left, or decline with Brees. It is a concern in keeping him for his value, his worth and just not have enough money to secure other talent in so many other needed areas. AGAIN! FOR THOSE WHO WILL STILL READ WHAT I DID NOT SAY, I am not saying saying get rid of Brees. Keep him. I think he should and would want to retire from the Saints. He had a great chance , luck, all things lined up in his universe to get here, here, a blank slate, under a coach, Sean P and his staff, another person coming in a blank slate, and it was all just the right mix.Everyone. Reggie Bush, Colston , etc. , to now. They none followed anyone here. That is what I mean by a blank slate. Now, back to Brees, I would hope he will bow out before he stays in too long and loses , goes out too late like some of the names you mentioned, just for example. We fans too none know, Brees and Mrs. plans. He is young at 41 with a young family. SB was 10 years and his baby was about a year old , a little over a year. He now has four kids under 11. We none know what Brees and camp are fielding out for him now career wise while he is still young, still a big name. Commentary on air personality? NFL coaching position getting another SB another day another way with another team. It is possible. I am not ready for these Saints years to be over. No one is , but rebuilding, rebranding happens. I disagree with you about Bridgewater. He is up for grabs. He should tell Saints he wants out. He only just brought it home with five straight Ws following a record breaking qb. Bridgewater should go someplace where he can have a career . He is wasting this time now , his time, talent, and name here. Keep THill because he is useful elsewhere and draft or trade around for a real back up qb. Financially, Saints can not afford a first string tyoe qb. |

Let the man take his time, he's earned it. March 18th is a ways off, and I'm not aware of any other financial deadline. No matter what happens at QB, September is still a long way off, plenty of time.
