this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; WITH THE MONEY FREED UP BY LETTING TB AND PEAT GO WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PAY HIM WHAT HES WORTH. A 4 YEAR DEAL IS MY THOUGHTS. PROBABLY AROUND 5-8 MILLION A YEAR WITH MOST BACKLOADED....

1st Round Tender means that SP sees Hill as Brees replacement.

While I'd love as much as anybody to see Taysom get a shot, that first round tender doesn't guarantee anything at QB or that he's Brees replacement...
What we can assume is that Taysom is that important to the Saints offense at this time in his multi-role status... Consider this factoid - Last season, Taysom Hill had more Touchdowns down Odell Beckham... Considering our total lack of production from Wide Receivers not named Michael Thomas, when you look at Taysom's production, he's a bargain for the amount AG cited... |

It's kind of hard to justify doing that right now, so they took the middle road. Nobody is giving up a 1st round pick for him, and I feel like the money is an investment worthy of a QB.. not some gadget player. Without the 1st round tender, some team may have gave him good money... but they would have been looking at him at playing QB. This is Payton's way of keeping him locked away until a long term deal can be reached. I think it may also be indicative that his snap count may increase this year.
