There were only 45 WRs that made over that in the league season. There were 21 TEs. Teddy made 7 million last year cause he is a proven starter in the league, Taysom is not. Other teams don't even know if they can even use Taysom in the way that we do. It'd be quite the risk.

My point is that there is no way that Taysom Hill does not get a long term deal. Why wait on it though? The reason is if he becomes our QB he will certainly want a bigger contract than 4.6M. That is why the front office is walking the fine line though. We certainly don't want to lose him, but we also don't want to lock him in at a price yet until we've seen him behind center more. He's probably even hesitant to take a long term deal at anything around 4.6M/year cause he believes he can be a starting QB. 4.6M still not worth it for any other team that just views him as WR3 or TE2 though. It is a weird situation and I think we are playing it correctly. |
