Payton's Political Correctness - Josh Hill is the starting TE, as he actually tries and can block vs Jared Cook, a dedicated receiver at the TE position on down and distance who doesn't try, therefore can't block...

Now, both of them, Hill and Cook are listed as starters, and they can both reach clauses in their veteran contracts because of reaching this benchmark...

And if Hill gets off to a good year, the ignorant masses that elect ProBowl players may elect Hill if he's leading, in say TDRec; hitting that benchmark kicks in bonuses he wouldn't see splitting time with Cook...

Don't think this puts Cook's ego at ease being the starting TE, if anything, with Trautman coming on, he'd better put up or get out the way...
