There's still some good ones out there - problem may be the salary cap for next season, and the Saints are trying to roll some money forward for contract extensions...

True Dat! But it looks like we are going all in this year. Drew might have two years left in him so I don't want to break up the band next year because of an over priced free agent we sign this year.

Well, Drew will still have to be paid for next year if he comes back for an encore, which I seriously doubt...

If Payton is to be believed and Taysom is legit, he also will need a contract...

And then there's Ramczyk, Lattimore, Mr. Marcus, Anzalone, Hendrickson, among others...

With the Onyemata signing, believe Rankins is done after this season as a Saint...

The entire NFL will be dealing with the down cap, JP. The players know this, as well. You cannot compare the next round of contracts with their historical predecessors. Mark Dominik was talking about this a couple of weeks ago on NFL Radio. Player expectations are going to be quite a bit lower. Contracts will not look the same for the next few years, much as economics will appear to be substantially different in every industry for the next several years. What you came to expect in the past is no longer relevant, at least not for the near future.

And win or lose, I fully expect Brees to return unless something dramatic happens and he no longer loves the game or he suddenly can no longer perform at a high level. I can't see either of these being a factor yet.

Understand, but some teams are more against the cap than others...

Some guys are definitely going to walk next year...

The point about Brees is that next year's money is really money kick down the road...

And next season the road will be short...

The money will have no impact upon whether Brees plans to return for the 2021 season. If he is ready and willing he will be playing in New Orleans. Gayle will insist that Loomis finds a way to make it happen.

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of short term contracts next year. Mega deals will be put off by teams and players alike. Grass will not look near as green on other teams. Once again, you cannot count on anything basing it upon the past.
