New Playoff Structure of CBA is passed
I don't like it at all and creates the potential for the most ****ed up of situations. While unlikely, imagine if there were two undefeated teams in the same conference. Could you imagine the controversy that could spawn out of this?

Re: New Playoff Structure of CBA is passed
Trying to remember what the change was
Was it one more team makes it and only the 1 seed gets a bye? Its ridiculous as it is nearly half the conference will make the playoffs. Why are you giving credit to mediocrity. Anything to get the Cowboys, Giants back in the playoffs |

Re: New Playoff Structure of CBA is passed
No different than the NBA or the NHL. More playoff teams means more interest in the end of the season. Two more playoff games means tons more revenue for owners and league.
As for two undefeated teams at the end of season, first it has never happened. Second the 5th tiebreaker is strength of victory. So the team with the stronger schedule for the season would get the #1 seed. SFIAH |

As a huge fan of the game I see this as nothing but fantastic as I get to watch two more playoff games. The owners wanted it. The players wanted it. It makes no since why real fans of the game wouldn't want it, too. The vast majority of fans are excited about it.

Who cares? It means more football. It's entertainment. It makes more regular season games important at the end of the season. It strengthens the playoff field, making it LESS mediocre in most seasons. It makes getting the #1 seed that much more important. I don't see anything negative by adding another team into the mix.

While wild cards didn't win their division, often they have better records simply because they are playing in a better division. You could see this if this system were implemented last year. The Rams, who would have been the 7th seed ended up with the same record as the Eagles, a 4th seed and division winner. But the Rams were the #3 team in their division while the Eagles won theirs.
If you really wanted the best teams, then rank by conference and only take the top 7 conference teams. But as long as the division system exists, then adding wildcards gives the opportunity for teams who would wipe the floor with the NFC Least a chance to get in and demonstrate it. SFIAH |

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |
